‘Till Death Do Us Part

Philippines have been regarded as one of the top holders of Catholic worshipers. For people in this country it is but right to give their due respect to the church especially with regards to the sanctity of marriage. For two people to become one means to face the altar and have a priest preside the celebration of a couple’s union. If one would notice, four weeks before the wedding, the commentator would fist announce to the whole parochial the couple’s names and to which family they were brought up, an opened result of background check for everyone to hear. Some would find this confusing if the announced parties are not in anyway acquainted to them but to those who have gone through the same traditional way it is pretty obvious as to why their names and backgrounds would be said publicly.

There have been many cases, so to speak, that people got more in trouble after what is supposed to be a wedded bliss. In the age when courtship between man and woman goes via the internet and text messaging, there is no telling whether the flowery exchange of words are sincere for both parties. This is more crucial to the ladies more over as their names and dignity are placed at uncertainty with a guy whom they “just fell for”. To state things more clearly, this is not the ordinary romantic tale of two people who met and found their heart’s other half, but rather a tale of deception as at a time one is hoping to finally have a dream come true while the other happens to be a con man.

A case was once flashed on the television screen as they hunt a man who was gone missing for many years (twenty years or so I believe) after killing his wife and his child. He was later on found to be happily married and with kids, and with a new name, living the American dream. It was only a matter of time before his true self get s exposed after his new wife finally saw something different from the man she married. At that time a wax figure of the wanted man, what he would possibly presently look like, was flashed on television screens after investigators try to draw a picture about the possible image the suspect could have given himself now—a an with gray streaks that is going bald, clean shave and glasses, and always with that friendly smile. Sooner or later a concerned neighbor reported to the police about the man who looked exactly the like the figure that was flashed on the television. After having a background check on the reported man it was indeed confirmed, upon capture, that he was who the police was searching for.

For many years there have been reported cases of domestic violence, missing persons and blackmailed victims, all of whom the guilty are their own partners. There is no telling as to who a person is to be married to. They may be not who they claim to be, hiding on sheep’s skin until time came for their true prospect to make them unravel. Without a background check on who they are and with nothing but blind passion, there is no telling that what’s suppose to be happy ending is but a deadly night mare.
