3 Steps to a Healthy Colon

By: James Briggs Click author's name for more of his/her articles

Experts say that if you do not have a bowel movement two to three times a day, your colon is not as healthy as you might like to think.

A healthy colon should have a movement at least three times a day if not more, and those who do not are said to be suffering from a state of constipation.

The colon is the sewer of the body and the human body is meant to eliminate all of the waste that it cannot use or that might cause damage through the colon.

Bowel movements are the body's way of ridding itself of the filth that is filtered out of the food you eat, so without proper bowel movements, there is no way to rid the body of its waste.

For this reason, those that do not have healthy bowel movements are prone to sicknesses of all kinds, many of them becoming fatal.

For this reason, it is important for you to know how to tell if you have a healthy colon and if not, how to go about fixing that.

Cancer of the colon is one of the leading causes of death in the United States and leading in cancer deaths out of all of them. This is why having a healthy colon and knowing the signs is so important.

Step 1: Know What to Expect
If you have to strain or push, you are not having a healthy bowel movement.

If your bowel movements are small and beady or thin or even loose, you are not having a healthy bowel movement.

Also, if you can see large particles or chunks of the food that you ate, you did not have a healthy bowel movement.

Everybody has unhealthy bowel movements every once in a while, and an unhealthy bowel movement is certainly better than no bowel movement at all.

If this sounds like the story of your life, you should consider looking into cleaning your colon and taking steps toward more healthy and productive bowel movements.

Step 2: Get Those Bowels Moving!
Depending on how severe the problem is, you have definitely got to do something about your bowel problems if you are not already in the process of doing so.

Based on the level of discomfort you are experiencing and how severe you think the problem is, you may or may not have to consult a doctor for your problem.

Ask around and see what different kinds of products your friends and family know of and have used to treat similar problems.

If you are not comfortable with this or you don't have such resources available to you, ask your doctor or your pharmacist.

A good colon product should not only help you to cleanse your body but also (hopefully) have more regular bowel movements in the future so you won't have to worry about this problem at all.

Step 3: Live Cleaner, Feel Better
You may not see it now, but after you have cleaned your colon and had more healthy bowel movements for a while, you should feel much better.

The healthier your colon is, the less prone to disease you are, the more happy and healthy you will feel.

Remember that colon cancer is one of the leading killers in the United States. Don't you want to do everything you can to take care of yours?
