5 Reasons People Fail in Network Marketing

There’s no doubt that you can make a lot of money with a network marketing business opportunity. Many people have turned to network marketing to create wealth and give them a life that’s free of the 9-5 rat race, a life full of possibilities and new experiences. Network marketing also offers you the opportunity to help others start living the life of their dreams as well, which is incredibly rewarding and will make you far happier than the money that will come pouring in when you succeed.

What many people don’t realize, however, is that network marketing is a business. If you want to succeed, then you must devote the time and energy to the business every single day, and not tinker with it now and then when you need some extra income. Yes, you can certainly make money while you are out having fun, however you must attend to your business, if you want to create wealth and start living a life filled with freedom and choices.

So why do so many people fail at network marketing? Let's look at the top 5 reasons.

1. People give up too early.
Persistence is a major key to success in the network marketing business (as well as most other areas of life). Most people just give up way too early! They see one hurdle, or experience one setback, and feel that all is over, it’s just hopeless, and they should move on to something else. Want to know how many rejection letters Stephen King got? How many times Thomas Edison failed to make a light bulb? Thousands, both times. The key to success is having the strength to keep going when it feels futile. It’s reaching inside yourself to find the will to continue in spite of current appearances.
Don’t give up!

2. Individuals don’t truly believe in what they’re doing.
Many people choose a network marketing business opportunity based on money alone. Well, money is great, but if you don’t believe in the company, or its message or products, then you’re probably not going to make it. Choose a company who has similar goals and values to what you believe in and you’ll have a much higher chance of success. Ask yourself if you’d feel comfortable telling your friends and family about the opportunity. If there’s a twinge of doubt, keep looking for another opportunity. You want a company that you enjoy telling people about, who sells products you genuinely believe in or who has a message that rings true to your own heart.

3. Folks choose the wrong company.
It’s a sad fact that not everyone out there is honest. Many people choose a company based on hype or “buzz”, only to find out that there is little training and mentoring, or that their chosen company offers a system that’s not easy to follow or duplicate. You want to find a company that’s going to be there for you, who will coach you and give you the tools and information you need to go on and to coach others. You want to find a company that’s going to lift you up, not drag you down!

4. People don’t build relationships.
Network marketing is all about people. Yes, there are products and money involved, but it's all about the people you’re interacting with. The people that fail in this industry think they need to be “salesmen”, and they try to pressure friends, family, or contacts into doing something they don’t really want to do. So don’t try to “sell” people on something. If you want to succeed in business, then just be yourself. Be honest, and tell people what your product or service can do to improve their life. If you’re selling personal development products, don’t just tell them that their life will get better if they try a product or read a book. That’s too static, and too hard to imagine. Share with them how your products will enable them to drop their limiting beliefs, how they’ll have more self-confidence, and how they will be better equipped to raise their kids. Paint them a picture of their future life, and build a relationship with that person.

5. There’s no real pain in failing.
There’s an old saying in the business world: a hungry dog hunts best. Many people fail at network marketing because they haven’t reached enough pain to force them to keep going. They’re just comfortable enough, or just happy enough, to slack and not give it their all. Want to know who succeeds? Those people that don’t have enough to pay their mortgage this month. Those people who are about two steps away from not having enough to feed their kids. Yes, it’s scary to think about, but those people want success with every part of their heart, and they’re not giving up until they get it because they have no other choice. These are the people who create wealth and finally achieve a life without any limits.

If you want to succeed at network marketing then focus on it, and don’t do it “now and then” when you have a bit of extra time. Consistency is key. Be yourself, and when you talk to people focus on how you can help them find a solution to their problem. If you talk with people honestly and build good relationships, the money will come.
