Everyone can find something they are into in New York City. From theatres on Broadway and fabulous designer shopping on Fifth Avenue to world-renowned art galleries, museums and landmarks such as Central Park, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Empire State building and Statue of Liberty, you will never be left wanting in the Big Apple. If you have preconceived ideas about NYC, be prepared to be shocked.

In just 23 square miles, Manhattan Island has a population of over one and a half million, so to get the best feel for this densely populated city you should explore on foot.

You will feel like a movie star when you start your exploration on Fifth Avenue because this long street has been the location for hundreds of Hollywood movies and TV shows. From the Museum of Modern Art to the Rockafella centre, there is so much to see on this one giant street. It also has famous, must-see shops such as the NBA store, the giant glass box that is the Apple store and FAO Schwarz used in the film ‘Big’ as well as a great selection of high-street and designer shops.

Midtown is where you will find the theatre district. Broadway is a chaotic part of town that is best seen at night when it is transformed into a mini Las Vegas because of the sheer number of neon signs.

For more bright lights at night, head to Times’ Square. Standing at the most famous junction in the world you really feel that you’re on a movie set and you will start to fall in love with the ‘city that never sleeps’.

If you continue down, you will end up at the art-deco skyscraper, the Empire State building. A world first, the view from the tower is still just as impressive as it was nearly 100 years ago. This is another of the city’s famous landmarks that should be visited at night because you can see the lights of all five New York City boroughs.

Ground Zero memorial is somewhere you should really try and visit on any trip to New York as it will give you a chance to reflect on a city that has seen so much. It is also a perfect place to escape the hordes of crowds and enjoy a quiet lunch.

The most style-conscious area of New York is the Greenwich and Soho district. From great shopping, to chic clubs open until 5am, this part of the city has redefined urban cool.
