A Roundtrip Through Argentina

We reached our centrally located hotel Castelar after a speedy taxi ride. We do not believe that we are in South America because the city is so European.
As we are still very tired from the long flight, we go to sleep early. The next morning we get up early and visit the city.
After a delicious breakfast the first day could come. We ran to the Plaza del Congreso and then continued to the Plaza de Mayo with the government palace, Casa Rosada. Around the corner of our hotel there is the widest street in the world, the Avenida de 9 Julio with its high obelisk.
Our first impression is that Buenos Aires is a beautiful city, but not very cultivated. The cracks in the façades of the houses are not to be overlooked. The nightlife in Buenos Aires doesn’t start before 10 pm in the night.
The next day we traveled by taxi to the district of La Boca. We went to El Caminito, this is the street with brightly painted houses of corrugated iron, wood and other various materials.
In addition, we visit the stadium in La Boca. For a small fee it’s possible to visit the inside of the stadium. Then we ran up to the Puerto Nicolas at the port and from there we traveled back by bus to Plaza de Mayo. In the cathedral there is the mausoleum of General San Martin which we visited. As it was already quite late we were very hungry. So we sat in the first nice looking bar we found and enjoyed our delicious meal.
For the next day we booked a flight to Puerto Iguazu. Also here our accommodation is very central. On the same day, we booked a small trip to the common border of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay.
The next morning is dominated by heavy rain, so we stayed in bed until noon. In the early afternoon the path leads through the rainforest to waterfalls; because of the rain (it started again during the trip) only a few tourists are here.
The day after we flew to Mendoza, but we had to change at a stopover in Buenos Aires. In Mendoza, we stay at the Hotel Pacifico. In the center of Mendoza everything is reachable by foot. We visited a small church, ran over a small stone bridge - the “Puente del Inca”. Here we listened to the history of this bridge, which has nothing to do with the Incas.
To continue our journey to Chile, we bought bus tickets to “San Carlos de Bariloche”. From our hotel room we had a magnificent view over the “Nahuel-Huapi Lake”.
We hiked up a mountain at the Cerro Tronadorim Nahuel Huapi National Park, whose glacier is, due to volcano ashes – black. Completely starved of this strenuous trip in the evening we had a big dinner.
The trip continues – from San Carlos over Trelew to El Calafate. Fortunately we had enough time for a whale tour in the National Park on the Peninsula Valdez near El Calafate.
As we really needed a break, we passed the following day with sleeping and relaxing. Relaxed, we started the next day with some shopping in the bit more expensive shops. In the next morning we had an unhurried trip to Rio Gallegos. Here we stayed at the hotel Croacia and strengthen us in the evening once again in a steak house.
From here we flew back to Buenos Aires with a change in Comodoro Rivadavia. We stayed here two more days in the Argentine capital, because we still wanted to enjoy a bit of the tango atmosphere. Before we took the plane back home, we had a little walk over a flea market and visited a museum ship
