There are many things to look forward to when you plan your holiday to the Fleurieu Peninsula. You can go snorkelling, horseback riding and whale watching, take one of the many wine tours or just relax on the beach and make sandcastles. Finding a place that has multiple attractions is a little difficult, but the Fleurieu Peninsula is the answer to this problem.

A flourishing produce and wine region in South Australia is a treasure cove waiting to be explored by all looking for a golden vacation. It has all the makings for your perfect holiday getaway. There are things to do for all ages, so can cater to everyone’s needs.

How to begin to answer this question is a dilemma considering the plethora of things to do and experience. Let’s discuss a few options, though, so you have a better idea and can plan accordingly:

Wine Country

The Fleurieu Peninsula is home to some of the best vineyards and foods produces found in the Australian Continent. Some of the world famous wines come from McLaren Vale, Currency Creek and Langhorne Creek. The McLaren Vale is situated beautifully between the hills and sea, 40 minutes south from Adelaide and these beautiful beaches stretch all the way to south Cape Jervis and makes an ideal day tour destination from Adelaide.

Nature and Wildlife

Want to feel one with nature? Then head down to the Fleurieu Peninsula. Nature here means beautiful whales, playful penguins, native forests and some breathtaking conservation parks, like Newland Head and Deep Creek. You can get a look at the migratory waterbirds at the Coorong National Park or go trekking through the wetlands and lagoons situated in the lower Murray River (with a guided tour, of course). Most wildlife in these beautiful regions can be spotted by simply taking a walking tour.

If you love snorkelling, then you can view some astonishing sea life, like the famous Leafy Seadragon. There are some shipwrecks and beautiful marine life waiting to be discovered by you. So, what are you waiting for?

Coasts and Beaches

You can stroll through some of the secluded beaches or just plain have fun building sand castles and slinging mud at each other. The Fleurieu Peninsula boasts some of Australia’s finest stretches of beaches. You can visit the mouth of the great Murray River or visit the brilliant Coorong. You can catch the Southern Right hales near Victor Harbour when they are passing en route as a part of their annual migration. You can even take some surfing lessons to completely enjoy the surf n sand.

Interesting Towns

This region is rich in culture and heritage, which is reflected in every town and city. Some interesting and even more beautiful towns you can visit in the Fleurieu Peninsula are Victor Harbour, Mount Compass, Yankalilla, Goolwa, Rapid Bay, McLaren Vale and Willunga.

How to Get Here?

Car

You can drive down from Adelaide by the Main South Road (A13) to McLaren Vale in less than an hour. Port Noarlunga, Maslin Beach, Port Willunga, Aldinga and Aellicks Beach are also an hour s drive from Adelaide. If you want to enter from Strathalbyn or Wellington, then you can take the Princes Highway (A1) and from Wellington you can take the cable ferry to cross the Murray River. This cable ferry is toll free, as it is operated by the Department of Transport. There are plenty of ways to enjoy Adelaide day tours here in the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Train/Coach/Bus

There is a public train service from Noarlunga and Adelaide Metro has a bus service from Adelaide. Goolwa Bus & Coach provides tours and charter services. Please visit their website here: http://www.goolwabuscoach.com.au
