Amsterdam

For the first time I went on holiday alone. Well, it was more of a city break to Amsterdam than a real holiday.
My stuff was already packed next to me when we were dismissed for the weekend and I went directly to the station.
Actually, the trip by train was okay, but it thought it would be faster. With the two local trains and the IC from Berlin it took me 5 hours. 5 lonely hours between Germany and the Netherlands ... Somehow, it was noticeable that I’m not used to do single trips. And I was not even there!
Finally arrived in Amsterdam, I first searched for my hostel I booked from home. In the metro I bought a ticket and then went to the first station, where I had to change, according to my plan.
After an odyssey of taking the wrong metro and tram and with the help of three lovely Dutch guys, I finally arrived at my hostel: Stayokay Amsterdam Zeeburg. Enough adventure for the first day.
After breakfast with my South African roommate, I went into the city and was looking for Christmas gifts. At the Dam, the kalvė and Leidsestraat I was a few Euros poorer, but happier. Amsterdam is a great shopping city. Although it is big and full it’s still very clean.
After my little shopping trip, I took some walks. Among other things, I went back to the hostel. The fresh air was wonderful! I just quickly unloaded the bags, went to a couple of biscuits from the Albert Heijn supermarket next to the Rijksmuseum.
Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and the Concertgebouw are three pretty impressive building. I just made a little walk. Many tourists from all over the world stroll in the wet cold December weather at the large square in front of the Concertgebouw. Sometime you can find them all in the infinitely long pounding famous Amsterdam museums again. Can you believe, I was standing 30 minutes in the queue to go inside the museum? But it was worth it. Rembrandt's Night Watch was impressive, although I’m not a big art fan. After checking out I went first to the station, my backpack included. It was half pas 9 and my train was leaving in 6 hours. Enough time for a visit to the Anne Frank house.
Thanks to my Euro> 26-card I only paid half price and started my tour of the house. And it was really impressive. I believe that nobody can even almost imagine how those people could live such a long time in the smallest room. The rooms are sadly empty, but there are still some pictures on the walls. In addition, many video clips shown, in which witnesses were interviewed. You cannot tell everything, you must have seen it.
Also, there was a guestbook at the exit of the museum. Of course I left a message: "Amazing. Dank u wel." After the museum visit, I looked at something in the environment, like the many old and narrow houses on the canals, which you see all over Amsterdam. And of course, infinitely many bicycles.
On the way into the city, I was very surprised: Almost all shops were open! Shopping on Sunday - how convenient! For now, I will deliver the remaining gifts for my loved ones. I liked the city more from day to day. The nice people, beautiful surroundings, water everywhere. What a pity that I couldn’t share it with someone.
I still had 2 hours until my train came, and I look forward to the next big trip to Amsterdam.
