Most of the readers must be familiar with the G-Shock watches. When the watch was first introduced back in 1983, it had caused many ripples in the digital watch segment. The concept behind G-Shock watches was unheard of and many even rushed to wild conclusions. One of the common misconceptions that have been associated with these watches is that they are shockproof. Now that sounds interesting. The reader might think that if he wears the watch and touches an electrical cord, he might not be electrocuted. Why? Because he is wearing a shockproof watch.

Well I am sorry to break down the news, but that concept is complete illogical. The shockproof tag that can be found in all the G-Shock watches means that the shocks that are induced in the watch due to improper treatment will be eliminated. Improper treatments include dropping the watch and various other factors that induces stress and strain on the watch body. Because of this unique construction of G-Shock, many people who are into activities that are being carried out in the outdoors usually prefer these watches. Most of the watches in the G-Shock segment are digital in nature and many of them posses common features such as water resistance, lights and stop watch.

The G-Shock watches that were introduced back in 1983 were rudimentary in nature and have the basic timekeeping functions only integrated within them. With the passage of time, the feature list of the watches were upgraded and now almost all the top end versions of G-Shock watches have automatic time synchronization with the help of a remote atomic clock. Tough Solar is another facility that has been incorporated in the recent models of the G-Shock watches. During the earlier days, the watches were made from resin derivatives.

G-Shock watches come with strong metal construction and many of them feature an optional analog time keeping mechanism too. This effectively incorporates the digital and analog technologies into a watch. Readers must already be knowing that the G-Shock watches are manufactured by the pioneers in digital watches – Casio. Casio is known to update the G-Shock watch collection two times in a year. The existing models are updated and removed, while newer models are also introduced into the market. These G-Shock watches have become much known collectors material and many models that were released back in the 1983 can be bought by paying a fortune to the watch owner.

G-Shock watches brought forth clear distinction between men and teenagers by introducing baby g collection. The watches in this collection features all the technologies which can be found in G-Shock watches, the only difference being the watches in baby g collection are really small in nature. The other difference is the choice of colors, when the original G-Shock watches come mostly in black, baby g has been designed keeping in tune with the tastes of the fairer sex too. Baby G is much sought after in Japan and many consider it as a style icon over there.
