Ann Arbor Lawn Mower Service Options

Ann Arbor home owners have a number of options once the point comes to do maintenance or service on their grass mowers. On the one hand we are blessed that we have choices, on the other hand more choices means more decisions that have to be made. In this article we'll look at a number of of the choices that have to be made to get the best total value in taking care of your lawn mower, lawn tractor, snow blower, garden tractor, or other outdoor power equipment in the Ann Arbor vicinity. We'll reflect on convenience, time flexibility, and total cost of a bunch of different options.

The first point relating to getting your outdoor power equipment maintaned is ease of getting the equipment in front of a qualified repair technician. If your equipment is little enough that it can fit in your trunk or in the back of your SUV then getting it to a shop is fairly sensible. But the total cost of transporting power equipment needs to include potential damage the gear can do to your automobile. I have owned a number of SUVs over the years and if they were carpeted in the back I would not want to carry a dirty lawn mower or even something that could leak gas or oil inside the vehicle. Just because you are able to carry a lawn mower in your car doesn't mean you must.

If you have a pickup or a trailer the transportation option gets easier, at least for lighter equipment. If you have a lawn tractor or a garden tractor it can still be demanding to load into a pickup bed or on to a trailer. I worked doing lawn care one summer during school and I remember getting a full-size lawn tractor into a pickup bed during a thunderstorm. When I turned onto West Stadium with the pickup the tractor slid right out of the bed and crashed onto the road. Fortunately no one was directly behind me but the mower was smashed. The idea is that moving the equipment is not without expense and effort.

One of the benefits of taking your equipment to a service shop is that you can drop it off and pick it up on your schedule. If you have a repair technician come to your property to service your equipment you may need to be there so you would have to arrange that into your day. On the other hand if the person comes to your home then your equipment repair or upkeep takes a lot less total time. We've had technicians replace the oil and filter, lubricate the suspension, and sharpen the blades on our lawn mower in less than two hours overall time in our driveway. That worked out well because it would have in all probability taken two hours out of my day just to load the thing into a trailer and get it to a repair facility.

As an Ann Arbor real estate Exclusive Buyer's Agent I speak to a lot of first time property buyers about yard equipment and the obligation of taking care of a nicelarge yard. I feel it is worth the slightly greater expense of having a technician travel to our home for the repair and maintenance of our snow blower, lawn mower, generator, and lawn tractor. But each person is different. Hopefully these notes will help you make your mind up on how to have your lawn mower and other outdoor power equipment maintaned.
