The recreational vehicle sometimes called an RV, is used as a vehicle for transportation as well as a vehicle for living in as an abode and is basically built and used for the purposes of recreation, camping and traveling. Included as RVs are motor homes and truck campers as well. The records show that one out of ten families in America who own a vehicle have an RV in their driveway or on their property.
What are some facts about these RVs?
Throughout this country, the USA, there are unbelievably sixteen thousand public and private campgrounds to accommodate these vehicles. Statistics show that the yearly shipments of RVs are valued at a total of fifteen billion.
Camping is a great recreational activity for families who like the great outdoors but with all the comforts of home, which accounts for the great popularity of the recreational vehicle. It's reported that in the state of South Carolina more than twenty percent of those who live there would choose any form of camping as a favorite vacation choice. In a survey taken in 1999, eight percent of those who participated in the survey stated they had camped either in a trailer or Rv in a South Carolina state park.
Many surveys have been taken throughout the country, and in a University of Michigan study almost half of current owners of RVs are between thirty-five and fifty-four years of age although the average age for RV owners appears to be forty eight with an average income of forty seven thousand dollars.
Meanwhile, from a Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association survey report in the year 2000, it showed that RV camping was the twentieth most popular family activity in the US for them as well as children six years and above. Additionally, SGMA reported that RVs are preferred for camping by nineteen million Americans. From all the reports and surveys, RV camping is ranked as the sixth most popular recreational activity for senior citizens of the US.
Why are RVs so in demand
RVs are in such demand because of their convenience, flexibility and comfort. When traveling away from home it is instrumental in keeping the family together and comfortable while in a confined space. Another research study coming up; this one by L.Harris which showed a total of ninety two percent of parents confirmed that when traveling with children, the RV is great!
