Green tea, chocolate and blackberries are rich in antioxidants. Another beneficial component is Cartinoids which is found in peppers, carrots and certain fruits; it helps to reduce C-reactive protein level in the blood.

Resolving is one such compound and according to a recent study, conducted by the Harvard Medical School in Boston, resolving can stop the inflammation response which leads to joint damage and pain. Take 3 ounce servings at least twice a week.

* Avoid Omega-6 fatty acids in your diet as it can increase the Cox-2 enzymes activity which in turn increases pain and inflammation. Cooking oils such as safflower, cottonseed, soybean, sunflower and corn oils contain Omega-6. These oils are commonly used in packaged snack food products; check the label before you buy such items.

But the exact relation between AGPs and inflammation is not yet known. The AGPs is absorbed by the body through foods such as steaks, bacon, burgers and other fried foods, mainly meat, which requires high temperatures to be cooked. Avoid grilling, frying or broiling meat, instead steam it or cook at low simmer in any sauce. You can also cook steak at a lower temperature to avoid AGPs in your diet.

* Olive oil is a good addition to your everyday diet. It contains a compound called oleocanthal which is effective in preventing the production of two enzymes, namely Cox-1 and Cox-2; it works in the same way that the NSAID drugs work. The concentration of oleocanthal is highest in the extra virgin oil produced from the olives grown in Tuscany, Italy. 3 ˝ tablespoons of olive oil contains around 400 calories and is equal to 200 m of aspirin. Olive oil can be used as a substitute to butter and other fats used for cooking.

* Strawberries reduce C-relative protein or CRP in the bloodstream. CRP leads to inflammation in the body. Eat 16 or more strawberries weekly to reduce the CRP levels.
