Bedroom Furniture And The Three 'S' Words

When choosing your bedroom furniture it will be important to consider how best to balance the three 'S' words. These three words represent the three main uses which a bedroom usually represents, including sleep, storage and of course, space.

Whether choosing modern bedroom furniture for your own room, or funky children's bedroom furniture, keeping these three words in mind is critical, although all too often people make the mistake of prioritising one above the other two. Yet for a truly inviting bedroom that has long lasting appeal, all three have to be considered in harmony with each other.

Sleeping is of course one of the most obvious functions of a bedroom, and choosing your bedroom furniture will often start with the bed. Whether you choose a pine bed, trendy modern sleigh-style bed, metal framed bed or even a four poster bed, this will often feature as the focal point of the whole room. This often tends to dictate the style, design and even the size and layout of the other furniture in the room.

If you're looking to replace your bedroom furniture, it's worth re-thinking the position of your bed, as simply moving bedroom furniture around in a different configuration can result in a whole range of possibilities that affect your choice of bedroom furniture.

Storage is the perennial difficulty for most people, and it's wise to plan ahead, buying storage that can cope not just with your existing clothing, bedding, shoes and bags, but will also be able to cope with the next few years' worth of purchases.

If you're the sort of person who has accumulated a parade of wardrobes, each of which contains a slumped heap of clothes nestling with your shoes and bags at the bottom, it might be worth considering alternative bedroom storage solutions, such as a chest of drawers or even a wardrobe or bedroom unit which incorporates internal shelves or drawers to allow for a more organized storage solution. This is important not only to help protect your clothes from creasing and damage, but also to allow you to find your items more easily.

The third word can easily be ignored or overlooked, but space within a bedroom is essential for several reasons. Packing too many items of bedroom furniture into a room can mean that there is almost no space at all. This can make it difficult to get dressed and ready conveniently in the morning, and the sheer feeling of being cramped in is rarely conducive to sleep.

Buying children's bedroom furniture is particularly important in this regard, since often children's bedrooms are a good deal smaller, meaning that space is a premium. Children need space in their room's to play, chill out and leave their toys lying about. Without space in their bedroom they'll probably take over yours, your living room and any other areas they can find!

Choosing your bedroom furniture will require careful consideration of all these three aspects, making sure that you have catered for your sleeping needs, your immediate and longer term storage needs, and still managed to make sure that there is enough space for you to enjoy your newly furnished bedroom.
