Birthstones For August

As summer draws to an end, the hottest days of the year are still to come in this last month of summer vacation for most of our children. Vacations are mostly over and everyone is hurrying back home to purchase school clothes for the school year that is about to start while the children have mixed emotions on having to go yet another year to school.

If you have a little extra time however, now is a good time to get in tuned with your birthstone. Most cultures consider owning a birthstone tuned to your own cultural background is akin to carrying a lucky charm around with you. Who knows, it just might help you land the perfect job or even with the lottery.

Thanks to the internet, there are now lists of birthstones available from many different cultures are the world. So if you have never felt particularly drawn to the traditional birthstone you grew up with, perhaps something from the heritage of your ancestors will fill the build. Of course there is also choices based on several other factors too, so you are sure to find something you like.

So without further ado, lets looks at some of the choices those born in August have to choose from.

The month starts in the fiery throws of Leo the Lion and just as the month is winding down, Virgo the Virgin with her earthy flavors rolls in to bring us almost the the edge of the harvest season.

If you find yourself on the fire side of this dividing line for the month you are probably drawn more to Carnelian, Golden Topaz, Onyx, Sardonyx or Tourmaline gemstones because these are your astrological birthstones.

Those on the earth side of the line are more in tuned with Carnelian, Blue Sapphire, Jade, Jasper or Moss Agate which are your astrological counterparts.

Should you find yourself in need of a Talisman however, you Leo's are better off going with a Diamond while you Virgo's should seek out a Zircon for your protection. Simply have it carved, laser etched or set into a setting with protective symbolism and you will have the perfect talisman.

If you are not worried about protection and prefer to keep your heart in tuned with the planetary influences, you Leo's should focus your attention on Quartz Crystals while you Virgo's would do well with a yummy yellow Citrine, one of my personal favorites.

If none of these suit your tastes there are still many other choices specifically for those of you born at this hot and steamy time of the year. Perhaps something from the modern, traditional, Ayurvedic, Arabic, Celtic, Hindu, Italian, Polish, Roman, Russian or Tibetan Birthstones lists would suit your taste.

No matter what your taste in gemstones or cultural heritage is, there is a wide selection to choose from. The main thing is to make sure it feels right to you personally and you will never go wrong.
