The tag doesn't prevent search engine spiders from visiting your link so the readers can still follow your link if they find your comment useful.

There are still quite a number of bloggers who disable the "no follow" attribute and every comment you leave on their blogs will be counted as a backlink by Google and that helps to boost your search engine rankings.
