Building Basics Exposed

By: Jason Luke

There are always new buildings being raised and no matter where we travel we will always run into them. Office buildings are expanding and as companies get bigger, they need more room in order to operate. Therefore, the construction industry is always booming along with the economy. That being said, the construction industry may also be crashing if the economy is. Nevertheless, construction is an important part of the economy and many things happen in this industry before the first hammer is nailed.

Need

Every construction project starts with a need or desire, be it a new growing company has to make room for it's new employees, or a person's desire to make their home more beautiful by remodeling it. These desires lead these different types of of people to act. Let me explain the process: Find some land (or just take the land that is already yours), find a building permit, get a general contractor, get subcontractors, and start to build right away.

Territory

The land the builder acquires will depend on the project he is beginning. There are mainly three different kinds of land that the government has classified. There are industrial, commercial and residential areas. If the builder is building a house for a family, then the type of land will most likely be residential. If it is a business that is being built, then the type of land will be commercial. Finally, if the land is industrial, the kind of project that takes place is usually projects that include the building of factories and other things similar to factories.

It's possible that some projects won't need the acquisition of property. If a family is building onto their home, they already have the land they require, and that is sufficient.

Permits

Now that the builder has territory to start his construction project, he should get the appropriate permits. Most projects require only a building permit, but if a skyscraper is being constructed, the builder needs to get other permits such as a broadcasting permit from a broadcasting authority and further registration from aviation authorities.

These permits indicate that no zoning laws are being violated, and that all other considerations have been taken care of. By receiving them, the builder may begin his job of construction.. This is a very important step. If it is not done, the construction project can be stopped and no more work can be done. In some cases, the entire project can be ruined.

A builder will hire a general contractor in order to help supervise the construction job and to coordinate all processes.

Let's get to work: Building

When all the preceding parts are in place, building can commence. Whatever the project is, there are many professionals working together doing high precision work. There are many more obstacles to overcome, as is the case with all projects, but with a high quality team working for you, your project is well underway to becoming your dream.
