Buy and Sell Ebooks with Resale Rights

EBooks came into the electronic media spotlight with a boom! In no time these digital books went from specialized manuals with limited audience to an accepted alternative method of publication. Books in the public domain, books not accepted by publishing houses, how-to books, and literary classics eventually appeared as ebooks. Now hundreds of websites sell ebooks, many of which also sell the rights to resell the books.

A typical ebook seller is a website with hundreds of titles divided into categories. Books on business, technology, hobbies, arts and crafts, health, home and garden, diet, fitness cooking, foreign languages, and making money online are popular ebook topics. Ebooks generally range in price from one dollar to fifty dollars or more.

When a customer buys an ebook online, the ebooks is downloaded onto the customer's computer, cell phone, or electronic reader (ebook reader) via a secure server. Downloads may be almost instantaneous or may take a few minutes to complete. Once downloaded readers are free to read the ebook at their leisure and without an Internet connection. A person who buys an ebook with free resale rights may turnaround and sell it to other people, which turns an ebook buyer into both buyer and seller.

While there is plenty of interest to support ebooks and printed books, ebooks do have a number of advantages over books printed on paper. Once created in ebook format a publication will be available forever, with no danger of it going out of print. Ebooks are very portable, making them an excellent option for travelers. They also don't require bookshelves, so they save on storage space. People can read books on ebook readers even in low light. Using an ebook reader, readers can enlarge or charge fonts, highlight sections, make notes, and look up words in a dictionary. It is very convenient to purchase ebooks from home, without traveling to a bookstore or waiting for a book to become available. Authors can cheaply and easily self-publish their works in ebook format. Because ebooks do not use paper or ink or require transportation, they are environmentally friendly; printed books use three times the raw materials and nearly eighty times the water to publish than do ebooks.

As with every new technology, ebooks also have downsides. First of all, not all works are available as ebooks. The numbers are increasing, but they will never include all printed books. And of course, many people like to actually hold books, which they cannot do with ebooks. Readers may not be able to pass an ebook on to a friend after reading it, a common practice with printed books. The technology of ebook readers is not perfected and is changing, which means ebooks may need to be copied to a new carrier. Ebook readers are costly; it's a big expense if they are lost or damaged. While ebooks use less paper and ink to produce, the readers contain toxic substances, including batteries, and are not biodegradable.

Ebooks will never replace printed books; rather they provide readers with another option. Buying ebooks online is one more way the public can expand their learning and enjoy literature.
