Considering the Important Factors in Company Expenses

Considering just how hard hit most American companies are with the recent economic crisis, it is but to be expected that companies are now re-evaluating their financial status and overall business plans and strategies, to see if their initial goals are still indeed things that are either achievable, or even possible, given the current economic climate the world is seeing right now. Most companies have taken to completely bailing out and declaring bankruptcy, with owners opting to cut their losses and see how much of their remaining resources are still useful and could take them through the crisis, and perhaps even provide them with sufficient momentum to start a new business, albeit on a smaller scale compared to that of the business that went belly up during the financial crisis. One of the greatest realizations given by the crisis is that a thorough re-evaluation of the business should be done at a more regular basis. Regardless if set goals are met or not, another aspect of the business needed a long, hard look, and that is the aspect of company expenditures. Most company expenses are often weighed against company income, and once the expense is deemed as necessary and operations need it to function properly, the expense if often approved, without so much as checking if there is a viable alternative, or if there is a way to ensure that the expense can be made to be cost-effective for the company. One example of is in company trainings. A number of companies have written off trainings as an unnecessary expense, since trainings entail having a training expert for the exercise, as well as taking up an amount of the work hours which could otherwise be dedicated to production and operations. Experts, however, will stress that once a review and re-evaluation of the company operation and strategy is done, and certain changes involving the entire company needs to be done, having the proper training done to acclimate the work force with the changes is far more efficient and effective, rather than simply having to instruct the work force of the changes over traditional channels, such as corporate e-mail, and hope that the changes do stick in their minds and they are able to implement it with the least of error. This is where e-learning solutions come in best, providing a solution that is both cost-effective, and could very well guarantee a return on investment, should always be factored into company decisions regarding expenses.

So how will e-learning solutions play an important factor in improving chances of a return on investment for companies?

Cost-effective solution – Having e-learning tools to better equip the work force with the necessary knowledge to implement the changes needed to deal with the unstable economy is far more affordable for the company than hiring the latest “guru” with the supposed knowledge how companies can recover from the economic pinch. Moreover, the learning management system can be reviewed and used in as many instances as needed by the company, rather than having someone who charges by the hour, or by session.

Shorter learning time – Since most companies detest having to cut production and operation time short just because of lengthy training periods, e-learning tools provide a more acceptable option since training time can be done in a more efficient manner without having to take up so much of the company’s time.

Longer retention – Most seminars and talks that workers experience only stay with them for a short period of time. The demands of everyday work simply take up most of their attention and mental faculties, consigning the lessons they learned from the seminar to memory that is later on lost. A learning management system will allow them better retention through direct application of what is learned to what they do at work everyday.
