Diet for Fast Metabolism

By: Kamen Click author's name for more of his/her articles

Our metabolic rate determines the rate at which we ‘burn up’ our food, and by increasing this rate, we can lose weight more quickly, easily, and safely.

Metabolic rate is different from individual to individual and is based on a number of aspects such as age of the person, sex, body composition, hereditary factors and a number of other factors both extrinsic and intrinsic. Anyone can maintain their metabolic rate healthy and good if the right balanced diet and regular exercise programs are followed.

As the diet is a vital factor for maintaining a healthy metabolic rate, even the timing of consumption of the food and the amount of food intake plays a role in regulating the metabolism. So, in order to preserve a healthy and good metabolic rate, everyone should not only eat a appropriate balanced diet they should also eat the proper quantity of food following a correct timetable.

Everyone should follow some important pointers when trying to maintain a healthy metabolic rate by regulating the diet. These include the following:

- Breakfast is very important and should not be skipped.
- It is essential to consume six meals a day with every meal having small proportions.
- Avoid consumption of foods that have a high fat content.
- Eat more greens and lots of fruits.
- Include ample amount of fish in the diet.
- Avoid consumption of processed foods. Increase the intake of fibrous foods.
Fast Metabolism Diet

1. Drink at least 2 liters of water a day.

This is probably the most effective way to obtain fast metabolism. After a couple of days of constantly drinking 2 liters of water a day, everything you eat would come out very fast.

2. Spread your meals throughout the day.

It is much better to have 6 small meals than 2 big meals. So, eat a lot in small portions. Therefore, your stomach does not work for half an hour intensively and rest for a long time, but it gets your stomach working mildly the whole time.

3. Do not stop eating.

This is the most critical mistake that people make when they start a diet. This messes up your metabolism. So when you start eating again, it would accumulate everything that you eat in your stomach, so eventually your metabolism will be slower than ever. So keep on eating, but eat healthy. No junkies from now on.

When the body is persistently kept short of calories, it breaks down muscle tissue to use as fuel. Our body, using water from our tissue cells, quickly washes this away causing an instant reduction in weight through water loss. However, this weight loss will be short lived, and will quickly be regained when we take in water and the muscle we have lost will slow down our metabolism in the long term.

The reason for this is that each pound of muscle requires a certain number of calories each day just to maintain it. Therefore, the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn even when you’re doing nothing, even sleeping! If you lose muscle, then your daily calorie requirement becomes less. For example, imagine a dieter loses 10 pounds of muscle (along with maybe 20 lbs. of fat) on a strict diet. Now suppose that each pound of muscle had been burning 50 calories a day.
