Exmoor's World Famous Animal Attractions

If the appeal of the Exmoor Pony and the wild Red Deer with hundreds of native species of animals then there are also special sites to visit such as Exmoor Zoo and the Exmoor Falconry and Animal Farm.

Wildlife:
There are many animals available to see in the wild although nothing is guaranteed! The Red Deer can be spotted occasionally along with the Exmoor Pony but some of the birds are just as precious but it depends on where you go. Dormouse are also breading on Exmoor with several site making nesting boxes to encourage their way of life. There are also many insects that are both rare and beautiful including the Elephant Hawk-Moth and the Heath Fritillary.

Exmoor Falconry and Animal Farm:
The farm itself dates from the 15th century with specialist displays happening twice a day. The animals are hand tame and can be petted with some bottle feeding and handling session with certain animals but this feature will depend upon there being baby animals and is not guarnteed. There are also pony rides in the summer months with educational talks, hawking weekend, clay pigeon shooting and horse riding also available.

Exmoor Zoo:
There are over 200 different species of animal and bird to see at the zoo with several big events held every year. The daily regime includes many chances to see animals of all kind being fed and cleaned. From big cats to small insects, there is everything to see if you love animals a great experience for children of all ages. There is even a special attraction for those looking for the Exmoor beast Ebony a rare black leopard plays the part of the beast.

Barle Valley:
If you want to see wildlife in the wild then go to Barle Valley where birds of prey are frequently seen flying in the most picturesque settling. The base of the valley is a beautiful river surrounded by ancient woodlands with a variety of rare and unique animals and plants. If you want the whole story of this untamed neighbourhood then the Barle Valley Safari guides can show you all the wildlife hot spot and give you all the information about this rare habitat. The Safari runs from Dunster, Dulverton and Minehead three times a day in summer and two in winter, but it is sure to be beautiful in any season.

Quince Honey Farm:
The honey farm is situated near South Molton on the outskirts of Exmoor but is really worth a visit if you are a fan of seeing nature up close and personal. The farm will allow you to appreciate just how hard the bees work for their honey and what a precious commodity it is. Honey bees are also vital for the survival of so much plant life as they spread pollen and help support the entire eco system Exmoor. The farm will also be able to show you all about farming the honey and the history of bee keeping too, and there will also be produce available for sale.
