Father’s Days Gifts: Not Just Tools Anymore

Chances are, if you are old enough to buy your father your own gifts, your dad has been a dad for a while. Between Father’s Days, birthdays and Christmases over the last several years, he’s been given all the tools and he needs!

What do you get a man when he’s got all the tools he needs? How about something a little more personal? Everyone is different. We all have different likes and dislikes, hobbies and favorite pastimes. If you have been paying attention to what your dad says he likes, then you are in a great position to find the perfect gift for him.

If not, start listening closely to his comments around the dinner table or while he sits in front of the TV. Odds are he will say something that will give you a great idea for a gift to give him this Father’s Day. A gift that is meant for no one but him is a good choice, but what are your choices when considering a gift like that? Here are a few ideas.

Keepsake Boxes

A keepsake box can help Dad keep the top of his dresser less cluttered while helping to easily find the things he needs each morning such as his watch, wallet, cufflinks, money clip or keys. Keepsake boxes can be personalized with an engraving that you choose. Your father’s names or the words “Dad,” “Father,” “Grandpop,” or “World’s Best….” help to make a gift such as this one of a kind.

Watch Box

For the dad who has different watches for different occasions, a personalized watch box is more efficient than a keepsake box. It has compartments specifically designed to keep watches free from damage and tangles. Add dad’s monogram to the top of the box for a classic, personal touch.

Sandblasted Beer Mug

Who doesn’t like a tall, cold, frosty beer after a long day at work or mowing the lawn on a hot Saturday afternoon? You can give your dad a personalized mug that says something like #1 Dad and a short personal message. Tell Dad to keep it in the freezer so it’s ready when he’s ready for a cold, refreshing drink.

Photo Tie

Yes, a tie is a little cliché when it comes to Father’s Day gifts, but a photo tie with a picture of the kids or Dad with the big fish he caught breaks the cliché because it is one of a kind. He will be the only dad on the block, the only dad in the world, with this particular tie.

Personalized Wall Sign

Does Dad have a “man cave?” How about giving him something to spruce up the walls in it? A sign that is personalized with his name, like “Joe’s Man Cave” is in order. Does Dad still rock out with his buddies in a garage band? A personalized sign can be made for that, too. No “home sweet home” messages here, just signs that real men appreciate.

Photo Mouse Pad

This personalized gift can remind your father of his loved ones every time he gets on the computer, which is probably often. Any photo can be turned into a mouse pad so grab one with your best smile or one of the entire family together for a unique Father’s Day gift.

Galvanized Beverage Tub

Engrave a tub with your father’s name or the family name for a classy container to serve beer and wine from when he’s entertaining. To make it an extra special gift, fill it with a “man bouquet” when you’re giving it to him – two six packs of his favorite beer.

Garden Stepping Stones

If Dad, or Grandpop, is a gardener, a personalized garden stepping stone is a thoughtful, useful choice. A stepping stone can be personalized with his name, or a message from the family. If the stepping stone is from young children, it can be imprinted with their handprints making it a lasting memento of when they were young.

T-Shirts

If your dad has a hobby or interest, there is a t-shirt that can be personalized for him that shows off his interest. Does he have too many interests to choose just one, then a “World’s Greatest Dad” shirt with the kids names on it works, too.

Golf Shirts

For the dad who spends his Saturday mornings on the green, a personalized golf shirt with his initials is a perfect choice. It makes Dad look like a real golf pro and shows him that you know him well enough to buy him a gift that he can really use, over and over.

Money Clip

Sometimes a bulky wallet is more than dad wants to carry, and a money clip can hold your father’s cash instead. It can be personally engraved with his monogram to make it uniquely his.
