First Date Essentials to Impress a Woman

If you like the woman you are going on a date with and want to get to know her better then the ultimate goal in the first date will be to gain a second date. Not the easiest thing to do as you will both be nervous and wary of what you do and say. I wish I could say that there is a rule of thumb for such situations whereby if you do certain things you will get a certain result. This is not the case. You do have to be yourself just don't be over the top with anything. Subtlety is the key.

It doesn't matter who you are and what you do, if you turn up to your date late you are looking for trouble. Not only will you already be nervous you will also feel uncomfortable for keeping your date waiting. Your date may not mind this but you could find she is incredibly offended by this gesture or even won't hang around to get to know you. It is a sign of respect to show up for your date early as to not keep them waiting. However, if she is late try not to over react. If you really can't tolerate lateness then keep quiet this time and see if it happens again. If you say anything both of you will be on edge during the date and can make for an uncomfortable atmosphere.

Some guys like to make a big impression and will bring a gift for the first date which is a nice gesture. This could backfire though so take heed as she may not like the gift or may not find it appropriate, after all you don't know each other very well so you may not make the right choice.

All women love to be treated like a queen and this does not mean spending thousands of pounds on her, it just means being chivalrous. Open doors for her, pull out her chair, walk on the curb side of the pavement and give her your coat when you are walking outside. This is a sure fire way to make a woman want to spend more time with you. Don't just be courteous to her because she will notice how you treat other people. Opening the door for her and then letting it slam shut on the next person is not wise so pay attention. Remember your 'please' and 'thanks' when speaking to anyone from taxi drivers to waiters. You will score big points and it will not go unnoticed.

If you asked the girl for a meal then you should be expecting to pay, there are a few exceptions to this for instance if she wants to take you out then it could be her obligation. If she doesn't want to pay after asking you out then she was probably just looking for an evening out with a free meal. When the bill arrives say you are happy to settle it and only if she objects to you paying for her share let her half it. Do not let her pay for the whole meal and pay your half in full. Also tipping the waiters is a good idea as it shows you are not too stingy.

The thing to remember is too listen intently and show interest. Try to keep the conversation about her as everyone loves to be the centre of attention. Don't neglect to talk about yourself if she is asking you a question, just don't turn the evening into a show all about you. If you make conversation in the later stages of a date about what she was saying earlier then you will not fail to impress as it shows you were paying attention.
