Getting Chocolate Fountains

Chocolate fountains are the chocolate lover's dream come true, and there are plenty of them around. Part of the reason is that it no doubt feeds into the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory fantasies people have of rivers and waterfalls of pure chocolate. Fantasies are wonderful, but they don't satisfy the taste buds. Real chocolate fountains do.

A chocolate fountain can be desired for many reasons, including spoiling your friends at a party, or just spoiling yourself at home. Not all of them are expensive, with the table top varieties being quite affordable. But, know that not all the fountains are designed to melt the chocolate. Some chocolate fountains actually melt the chocolate themselves, while others keep the chocolate warm that you pre-heated before putting it in the fountain.

When choosing a chocolate fountain, make certain that you carefully read the description for this information. Many online sites have really fun chocolate fountain models that will provide you with endless delight. For those who are worried about tripping over power cords and knocking their fountains over, there are rechargeable battery-powered models available.

The Giles Posner model is designed with ease of use in mind and it's virtually impossible to make a big chocolate mess with it. It actually looks well, adorable, and comes in a jet black model or a candy pink version. It would be great for an outdoor party in particular where you may not have an electrical outlet available.

If you want to stay relatively small, try a Sephra model. Sephra is a maker of large-scale chocolate fondue fountains that includes models up to 40 inches tall, but you can get one of their mini-fountains for home use. They have a 16 inch model that melts the chocolate as well, which makes it a wonderful choice for domestic use.

Here is a fun fact for you readers out there: there actually is a fountain bigger than anything you have probably ever seen. The largest chocolate fountain in the world is located at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. It measures a whopping 27 feet in height, although only 14 feet of the fountain is actually visible. The Bellagio's chocolate fountain circulates a bit over 2000 pounds of white chocolate and milk chocolate in total.

It consists of 25 glass "shells" into which the chocolate spills from pipes in the ceiling. Upon close inspection, those with an eye for art will note that the basins are in fact distinctly Chihuly-esque. As a matter of fact, the ceiling sculpture in the Bellagio's lobby was designed by noted glass artist Dale Chihuly. As a chocolate lover, this huge fountain must be on your to do list next time you're in Las Vegas. In the mean time, you can have your own smaller version of chocolate fun with your own chocolate fountain at home.
