Ghost Perfume - A Young, Major Player in Fragrance Continues to Top Itself

In 1984, Tanya Sarne founded Ghost as a British fashion house. Her designs and popularity grew steadily over the next ten years to include a London shop (opened in 1994), and what is now the flagship store (opened in 1997 along with the debut of the G2 collection).

The following year, Ghost's popularity spread to boutiques in Amsterdam, Los Angeles, and Paris. As the company grew, so too did their products. Ghost charged forward with eyewear, knitwear, and shoe lines. Then in 2000, Sarne's company introduced a new cog in the machine with their fragrance line, which has grown in diversity and popularity in the last decade.

Ghost Perfume is a major player in the fragrance marketplace, and it really did not take too long to get there. Less than ten years has seen the availability of several different fragrances for women, the first of which debuted only a year after the original scent. Recently, Sarne's company has also carried over their popular scents into the world of men's fragrances.

From Cherish to Luminous, witness how Ghost Perfume has evolved from the scent of pleasurable simplicity to one of the most complex and intoxicating mixtures on the market:

Cherish

Cherish by Ghost offers the sweet aroma of pink grapefruit and green apple in its top notes with hints of freesia, a heavily scented herbaceous plant. After these notes settle, purely floral notes take over consisting of rose, pink lotus flower, and violet, before finally closing with a musky flare of cedar wood and amber.

Deep Night

With Indian Rose and Belle de Nuit as its top notes, Deep Night is a distinct fragrance from most others due to the unusual combination and rarity of the plants it uses for the initial punch. The middle ground takes a fruitier turn with apricot and orange joining white tree for notes that assure and invigorate the strong, self-confident woman. Like Cherish, it settles with a bit of musk in its base notes, but keeps things interesting with a combination of amber and vanilla.

Luminous

Luminous is the latest line of Ghost Perfume that packs a citric punch. It is a refreshing aroma for casual wear, and offers a wide variety of both fruity and woody notes. The initial scent originates from a combination of bergamot, pineapple, orange, blackcurrant, melon, green and red apples, sea breeze accord, and champagne base. It is a much busier product, especially in these top notes, but eventually settles down into middle notes of jasmine, Lily of the Valley, and raspberry leaves. Other featured middle notes are violet, rose, and freesia, before finally closing with woody notes of Sandalwood, Vetiver, Powdery Dream, candied raspberry, and peach sweet.

As you can see, the complexity of Ghost Perfume and their formulas have grown over the years. The results have been unlike anything else in the fragrance industry. Ghost Perfume offers a great deal of notes you will not find anywhere else, all expertly blended from an experience that continues to prosper, even as the company moves deeper into their traditional areas of notoriety. Ghost Perfume is a small part of what Sarne's company accomplishes on the whole, but it is anything but small in its impact on the fragrance industry.
