Does your child suffer from dyslexia? If so, he or she is certainly not alone. In the United States, dyslexia occurs from between 2 to 17 out of each 100 children. It’s critical for children with dyslexia to get early intervention so they do not fall behind in school.

As a parent or guardian of a child with dyslexia, you can help by investing in learning disability resources that are specifically designed to help your child work with his or her disorder. Otherwise, your son or daughter’s dyslexia could seriously interfere with spelling, writing and reading.

Of course, choosing the right learning disability resources can be a daunting task for a mom, dad or other caregiver who is already overwhelmed by his or her student’s diagnosis of dyslexia. Fortunately, there are several learning disability resources that have a proven track record and can therefore be trusted to assist your child in excelling in school and at home.

More than anything else, you’ll want to look for multisensory teaching tools, such as those that include visuals, body movement, hands-on activities and auditory elements. By integrating these components into their learning methodologies, dyslexics can begin to develop successful strategies for reading, writing and spelling.

Some great learning disability resources are the Toobaloo (TM) and WhisperPhone (TM), both acoustical voice-feedback instruments that make learning to read and spell phonetically less of a challenge for dyslexic learners. As phonemes are the building blocks of language, it’s essential for dyslexics to begin to understand how to recognize them and put them together correctly.

Another great learning disability resource for dyslexics is the Easy-for-Me (TM) Reading sequence. These products focus on explicit phonics instruction, teaching children the patterns they need to recognize in order to become expert readers and writers. A wide array of hands-on activities makes the Easy-for-Me (TM) products exciting, even for very young children. What makes them equally as effective is that they are simple for parents and caregivers to understand as well. There’s no need to have a teaching degree. If you want to help your child to work with his or her dyslexia, it’s possible with Easy-for Me (TM) Reading.

Finally, the SnapWords (TM) line includes a number of learning disability resources which use both Dolch sight words as well as other high frequency words. These products help dyslexic children as well as kids with other learning disabilities learn to read by bridging the gaps in their understanding.

SnapWords (TM) utilizes the brain’s natural ability to work like a camera, snapping images and storing them in the memory. That way, children can recall those snapped images as a whole, helping them later put together words and sentences.

Remember that dyslexia doesn’t have to equate to a lifelong struggle with words and phrases. In fact, many children who are diagnosed with dyslexia go on to overcome their disorders, thanks to consistent and effective intervention. There are numerous learning disability resources out there – make the future a stronger one for your child by availing yourself of these fun, easy-to-use and time-tested tools.
