Heer Ranjha Returns to the Silver Screen

Whenever we talk about evergreen, epic and immortal love stories, we mention the likes of Romeo and Juliet and Heer Ranjha. Well, we can say that Heer Ranjha is the Indian version of Romeo and Juliet. Heer Ranjha has a rich history as it is considered one of the four popular tragic romances of Punjab. The other three are Mirza Sahiba, Sassi Punnun and Sohni Mahiwal. There are many poems, sagas and stories written on Heer Ranjha by several people from all over the globe. But the one that stands out from the lot is the 1970 Raj Kumar and Priya Rajvansh starrer film Heer Ranjha.

And now after 29 years Heer and Ranjha is back in the form of Harbhajan Mann as Ranjha and Neeru Bajwa as Heer. Harbhajan Mann is a popular entity in Punjab as he has garnered a lot of fame as he is considered the singing sensation and a demonstrated Punjabi movie actor. Harbhajan Mann has starred in 6 to 7 Punjabi movies after making a debut Jee Aayan Nu in the year 2002. Neeru Bajwa who will be playing the character role of Heer has worked with Harbhajan Mann in her previous movies like Dil Apna Punjabi, Assa Nu Maan Watna Da.

Few know that Neeru Bajwa who was a former Punjabi model and Miss India runner up. Her claim to fame was the Zee TV serial Astitva Ek Prem Kahani and Jeet on Star Plus. She also featured in many indi pop album videos. Other videos have included "Hum Kis Galli" and "Ni Soniye" with Silinder Pardesi, Juggy D, Rishi Rich, and "Kanthey Vala" with Kamal Heer.

Heer Ranjha narrates the eternal love story between Heer and Ranjha who were destined to meet if not in real life but in heaven. The film tries to restore the legend of the two lovers with utmost authenticity and historical precision. Heer Ranjha will create a magic as even after almost 300 years today people across cultures and languages read and sing about the love story of these star crossed souls.

The trailer of Heer Ranjha has already left an impression in the minds of people. The movie is in Punjabi but the subject is known to all and hence the viewers of the movie will not only target Punjabi people but also people from all over the world. Since Loves speaks no language and have no barriers to it, this one is for all.

Gursharan Mann will be seen playing the character role of Kaidon in the film. Gurmeet Singh is behind the music of the film and Harjit Singh who is the director of the movie has also written the script for the same.

Heer Ranjha will hit theatres on 2nd of October i.e. is on the auspicious day of Gandhi Jayanti. After Kambakkht Ishq and Love Aaj Kal the LOVE sagas continue in Bollywood with Heer Ranjha. With popular faces like Harbhajan Mann and Neeru Bajwa and a subject known to all, this one looks rock solid and ready to clout the love struck……
