A hand illustrated bird's eye view art map gives the viewer a unique look at an area with the sense of the surrounding terrain viewed from a human perspective. A birds eye view map displays an aerial view from an oblique angle to enhance areas of interest to the scene that is being viewed. These hand drawn maps include images that clients wish to promote and downplay objects and features that are not relevant to the image that they wish to convey.

Illustrated maps are not drawn to an exact scale but are designed to emphasize features in the scene to be used as landmarks. Different scales are often combined into the artwork of the illustrated map to enhance the feeling that the client wants to convey about the area being mapped. The featured areas are emphasized while other less important landmarks are downplayed or excluded in their entirety.

Aerial view illustrative maps can evoke feelings that a client wants to promote about a certain area. They are widely used by cities, tourist attractions, business centers, and college campuses to promote tourism. Each illustrated bird's eye view map is a unique, useful, and attractive piece of artwork that has the ability to generate interest in a city or event.

These pictorial 3D maps were first designed in the 1600's by the Dutch who would go to great lengths to get a bird's eye view of the area they were illustrating. Many map artists would climb mountains and trees to achieve the unique perspective they required to illustrate the aerial view maps of the time. These measures aren't needed today with the development of aerial photography but the same time and energy is put in to the beautiful illustrations of a aerial view map.

Creating a 3D aerial view map is quite simple from the client's standpoint. Only a few things are required which include a quality site plan identifying buildings and focal points to be included in the bird's eye view map. Good quality photos or drawings of each building and landmark should be submitted to the designer of the map so that the important features can be enhanced in the artwork. The map illustrator will also use satellite imagery and other methods available to create the map depending on the client's needs.

The hand illustrated bird's eye view map will then be created by software so that the map is editable and is ready to be used for any purpose that the client requires. Web based applications, prints, and signs are immediately functional after the creation of the 3D illustrated maps. Once the client pays in full the copyright to the aerial view map is owned by the client to use for whatever reason they| |purpose they may need.

A birds eye view map is a long term investment for a client because it can usually be edited as buildings are built or removed. Editing can also be done when certain points of interest in the map need to be emphasized to different groups. A beautifully illustrated 3D aerial view map will be able to be enjoyed for years to come.
