How to Generate Ideas for Your Promotional Videos, Blogs and Articles Part 4

In Part 1 of this mini-series, we looked at ways of overcoming “writer’s block”, and how important Google can be for generating inspiration. In Part 2 we explored some ways of refining and improving your searches, by adding supplementary keywords and key phrases. In Part 3 we discovered many other web platforms, where we can find ideas and inspiration.

In this final installment, I would like to introduce you to some different approaches that you can take to turn “ideas” into “content”, whether it’s a video script, an article a blog or a podcast. This list is by no means exhaustive, but hopefully will get you going!

1. The P-E-S Formula.

Identify a problem in your niche, and provide a solution that is preferably related to a product or affiliate product that you are promoting.

Let me give you an example from my own experience. We have a marketing software company, ContentBuzz.com, and many of our clients have contacted our support desk with similar requests for advice on content-creation.

They recognized the advantages of video and content marketing, but really didn’t know where to start. This led to the creation of “The Content Ideas Factory”, a simple but effective solution to their problem, which helps them make better use of our content distribution software products.

This kind of content is often referred to as the P-E-S formula i.e.
• Problem - Define the Problem that your reader is experiencing.
• Exaggerate - You then Exaggerate or Agitate it (making it sound worse than it is).
• Solution – You then provide the Solution (subtly hinting at how your product can help your prospect).

This method makes very effective promotional video scripts.

2. The How-to Phenomena.

I predict that quality “How-to” content, particularly videos, is destined to become the #1 format for achieving top search engine listings over the coming years.

With the advances in Broadband speeds, Google and the other search engines are delivering more and more videos into their search results pages, and Google knows that this is exactly the type of content that their clients want.

If you can create well-scripted and well-produced videos that provide real answers to real questions, your success is guaranteed!

3. The Tips & Tricks Tactic.

Another type of content that consistently makes the front page of the search engines could be classed as “Tips & Tricks”, the younger brother of “How-to’s”.

Take one element of a problem and focus in on the solution. These can be short, snappy videos or blogs that can provide an insight into your personal knowledge, and help elevate you to “Expert” status within your niche.

These videos only need to be between 1 and 2 minutes. If you take the time to learn a little about “optimizing” your content for the search engines, you will reap the rewards. I have written a free report, essentially a guide to video and social media marketing, which contains an excellent chapter on this that you may find helpful. (http://www.contentbuzz.com/lp2.asp)

So these are my top three suggestions for turning your “ideas into content”, and “content into Cash”! Try to be as fresh and original as possible with your work.

Whilst researching for ideas keep these words at the forefront of your mind: Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?
Make your own statements, get noticed and start building relationships with your prospects.

My Final Tip - Create a folder where you can store ideas as they hit you, and build them into a personal resource of “content gems” available for your future Video and Content Marketing campaigns.
Banish “writer’s block” forever!
