Windows Vista is the latest operating system from Microsoft for workstations and basic servers. It has been introduced with major design changes and features. Windows Vista supports improved searching, networking and several multimedia creation tools, which enhances its popularity among users. But sometimes, this operating system suffers crashes due to reasons like Windows system file issues, file system inconsistencies, malicious software like virus and worm, driver issues, user errors etc. The damage could be extensive enough to cause data loss. In such cases, if data backup is unavailable, the Data Recovery solutions come to rescue.

Consider a scenario where you face the following error with Windows Vista based system:

“File System Error (65535)”

This error is encountered when you attempt to open or install any program. As an additional symptom, you may observe desktop icons missing. The same error message can also result after incorrectly modifying permission settings in System32 folder.

Cause

The issue might result due to corrupt or invalid Windows Vista files.

Solution

To resolve the issue, you can try these methods:

• You can use System Restore to get the system back to last known-good state.

• If problem persists and the same error is encountered, you can use System File Checker (or sfc.exe) tool with /scannow option to correct the issue. System File Checker is a command line tool that allows user with administrative rights to scan Windows Vista files. Its /scannow switch scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct ones. The command can be used as:

sfc /scannow

• If the above step fails, you can perform clean reinstallation of Windows Vista. But before this, you need to take complete data backup. You are suggested to check backup log reports.

A clean reinstallation of Windows erases all data from the selected partition. Also, the backup media should be checked to see if it can restore required information. If data backup is invalid, not updated or absent, Data Recovery Software can be used to restore lost information.

Data Recovery applications are tools to scan the affected media as hard drives and flash drives and recover lost data. They incorporate advanced scanning algorithms to efficiently scan the affected drive. Such applications work at operating system and file system level to locate and recover data. These are graphically rich applications and hence are easily usable. These software are completely safe and non-destructive to use.
