The symptoms of an anxiety attack can be difficult to identify, particularly among those who may be unaware of the condition. People, who suffer from unknown symptoms that make them feel ill at ease, should seek urgent medical advice as these symptoms could be warning signs of an impending heart attack. Early diagnosis is imperative, as an untreated heart condition could lead to an early death, and the long term affect of untreated anxiety attacks may be a permanent mental disability.

How does it work? In non-scientific language, your body can’t tell the difference between reality and the thoughts in your head. So, you want to make your body ‘believe’ that what you are ‘visualizing’ is real. When you are imagining happy, calm thoughts your body will react accordingly. The following explains how to treat anxiety attacks using two visualization techniques…

There is a common misconception of thinking anxiety attacks are like heart attacks. Such thinking might still worsen the situation of an attack. Making the patient understand that it is a panic disorder, and it could be very well cured, which is essential in the entire plan to treat this panic disorder. There might be certain symptoms or almost most of the symptoms common to both the panic attack and a heart attack. Many believe that they suffer from a heart attack and then rush to hospitals increasing the panic to a much higher level.

There are different opinions about how to treat anxiety attacks. There are different types of anxiety cures, ranging from medication to therapy. Anxiety has a companion, ‘depression’, and some medicinal therapies work, and some don’t. The pharmaceutical approach may be the answer for some, but definitely not for all.

The best way to treat anxiety attacks successfully is by providing the patients with effective treatment. The patient will need to take regular therapy from a professional behavioral therapist. The therapy most effective in anxiety is called the cognitive behavioral therapy or CBT. In this therapy, the patient is taught to change his behavior and outlook towards the world and be more positive. This therapy targets the negative thinking pattern of the patients during an anxiety attack and teaches them to replace such thoughts with positive ones.

Generalized anxiety disorder is treatable. If you or someone you know shows any sign or symptoms of this disorder, there are many things you can do to make yourself or your loved ones feel well again. You can apply some simple do-it-yourself techniques to get the symptoms under control or apply additional therapy.

Exposure Therapy: This therapy allows you to be exposed to the sensations of anxiety attacks symptoms. The only difference is that you know that you are in a “safe” environment. This gives you the chance to learn the ways and methods to cope with anxiety attacks. Once you have “mastered” the secret to coping with your anxiety attacks symptoms, you will become more confident and less fearful of them because you now know how to handle these sensations.
