Founded in 2003, LifeVantage Corporation is a publicly traded (ticker LFVN) network marketing company specializing in scientific anti-aging products utilizing its clinically studied Protandim supplement. The fascinating history of LifeVantage The corporation's stock skyrocketed way back on 2005 after they made public the clinical studies and television specials by ABC, the Today Show and PBS regarding their Protandim product in 2005, LifeVantage's stock went through the roof. Without sales to backup the publicity, this initial publicity sent their stock up to over twenty dollars per share but it could not sustain it. During this time Protantim was just offered by way of retail channels and it did not do well on the shelves of nutritional stores. In the month of May, 2009, after more than 6 months of developing and preparation they ventured into networking for distribution|After more than 6 months of arranging, planning and preparation, on may 2009 they turned to Multi-Level Marketing for distribution. Not surprising to those who realize the power of networking, LifeVantage sales have dramatically improved and in turn their stock price has more than tripled from its lowest point of less than $0.10 in Nov. 2008. Still a bit too early to say, but it looks like networking is proving to be a good strategy. As with each assessment, let's start off with the easiest point to locate a scam… THE MERCHANDISE! Protandim Review - Since I've not yet tested it, I can'tcannot speak for the merchandise. What I do know is I am more willing to use it than any other nutritional product I have seen lately due to the extensive clinical research and peer reviewed research that have used into it. Over 20 universities have initiated a number of self funded medical research on the product in relationship to its relation on anti-aging and disease. Some have been completed and are listed on www.pubmed.gov under Protandim to see. In contrast to the majority of nutritional products, Protandim is not an antioxidant by way of supplementation instead it is a product that activates the body's production of its own natural enzymes which the body uses to break free radicals. Clinical studies seems to confirm that it is way more efficient than ingesting external antioxidants for this purpose. The LifeVantage corporate website (http://www.lifevantage.com) lists access to all the studies, reports and news video releases on their product that explains how it works and what it does. What I like most about this product is the unique marketing viewpoint it has… Unlike most MLM businesses which must resort to the old "try it out (for 30, 60 or 90 days) and see how you feel" line, LifeVantage distributors canconfidently say that Protandim is clinically proven to lower oxidative stress by slowing down the rate of cell aging to the level of a 20 year old. This alone is not enough to build a company on, but it's a great introduction for distributors. More often than not the hardest part in building a nutritional network marketing business is getting people to test the product and LifeVantage seems to have a bit of an advantage in this field. I was pleasantly surprised at the price of the product. In a world where product autoships are almost always a little over one hundred dollars per month, a one month autoship supply of Protandim for a retail "preferred customer" is only thirty nine dollars! This pricing is much less than the industry norm, thus making it doable to obtain true retail customers. In addition to the core Protandim product, LifeVantage also has a skin care product called TrueScience which is a skin cream designed with the anti-aging properties of Protandim. What's striking about the overall product line is its simplicity; just two core products, with one basic selling point, and a price that is truly reasonable. At the end of the day it is going to take more than research and hype for a product to make it. Protandim will have to make a noticeable impact on the wellbeing of the individuals taking it, whether it be more energy, improved sleep, not getting sick as often, etc. There are not too many people who will spend splurge on a product every month on research alone. If you are reading this and have actually tried Protandim, please feel free give us feedback on the product. LifeVantage's MLM comp plan I'm not going to go to the matter of how well-paid the MLM compensation plan is. There is a lot of money available in every MLM comp plan as long as it's legal. If you hear somebody going on about how their MLM compensation plan pays the highest in the business, high chance something is not right. Technically speaking LifeVantage maximizes a unilevel compensation plan paying down 9 dynamically compressed levels with the potential for a matching bonus on the first 4 levels and a coded bonus for LifeVantage pack qualifiers that allows for bonuses to be earned through limitless depth. If none of this makes sense to you don't worry about it. The most important part about the compensation plan is legal, since it only pays commissions on product sales. LifeVantage has taken an additional step to promote the movement of product that I really like and which does a lot to ensure legality. As with all company, distributors should stay qualified to earn commissions, in the case of LifeVantage this means two hundred PV per month in personal volume. The good thing is that the volume generated from personal "preferred customers" lessens the personal volume requirements for distributors. This means that as a distributor, if I have enough personal customers consuming product, I can reduce my monthly personal volume requirement down to the minimum of 30 PV. Behavior rewarded will be duplicated so when you see a company reward the enrollment of loyal retail "preferred customers" (consumers buying the product, but people who doesn't get involve in the business opportunity but still purchase the product), you will most likely have a higher customer to distributor ratio. This ratio is one of the most important things the attorney general and FTC look at when determining if a company is a pyramid scheme or not. Company & Leadership of LifeVantage There are a couple note-worthy details about the company beyond the short history I have already mentioned. LifeVantage is a member of the Direct Selling Association (http://www.dsa.org/forms/CompanyFormPublicMembers/view?id=44F6200000362) and the BBB (http://www.bbb.org/denver/business-reviews/health-and-diet-products-retail/lifevantage-corporation-in-littleton-co-90014185). They were involved in and settled a lawsuit with Zrii. In this lawsuit, they were accused of having conspired with former Zrii management/distributors to breach contracts and switch to companies. It was settled for $400,000 even if the lawsuit sought damages of 250 million. This type of lawsuit is not uncommon in the MLM business and in my opinion nothing to be worried about. As for the leadership behind the company, David Brown, formerly with Metabolife, is the CEO and Dr. Joe McCord, the man who spearheaded Protandim, is the Director of Science. It is noteworthy that Dr. McCord was the co-discoverer of antioxidant enzymes and their relationship to free radicals in 1968 at Duke University. I also like the fact that LifeVantage has veteran in-house legal counsel with Eric Marchant, who has counseled multi-national 100 million dollar Multi-Level Marketings in the past. Let's take a peek at the industry and competition We all know that nutrition is the backbone of Multi-Level Marketing business and there is no doubt that the health and wellness industry is increasing and will on the rise and will still increase. On the other hand I think at present you have an excess of companies entering into the industry and it is easy to get confused and be lost inside the rubble except if you have something distinctive… I think LifeVantage has just that. With a low product price point and the type of research and hype behind Protandim, I think they will do do well in the network marketing industry. In conclusion... This company sells a legit product at a price point that real consumers can afford and markets through a compensation plan that for me sounds more reliable than your average MLM. Even if there is a lot of research and publicity behind this company you still want to be sure your belief is 100% behind it before actually join in. In networking, belief sells and no amount of research can replace that. Give it a year or don't give it a month. The company will work only if you work it. We've just barely scratched the surface on LifeVantage, follow the link for in-depth analysis.
