Manage money better. That is what these people wish they did. In the last article, I wrote about four people who lost their millions after winning the lottery. Most of them won multiple millions and all were broke a couple of years after winning. This leads me to ask, what is not working? People think winning the lottery will solve their money problems; however, it did not work for these people. In fact, most of the people that win the lottery end up broke or in more debt then before they won the lottery. Why is this? It comes down to how we think. We must first develop a millionaire mindset before we can acquire and keep wealth.
Ever notice that people who have created their wealth can get it back quickly if they loose it? Why is this? It is because they have developed a millionaire or wealthy mindset long BEFORE the money came. Put another way, you cannot create wealth if your mind is constantly focused on poverty or lack of money. Doesn't this make sense? How will you be able to spot opportunities to create wealth when you keep you mind focused on a lack of money or opportunities? There are entire books written about this subject, I will condense it down and give you 3 tips to help you create a millionaire mindset.

  • 1. Check your beliefs. You cannot change what you do not know. The first step in developing a mind ready for wealth is to take an inventory of your thoughts regarding money. You want to find out which beliefs are holding you back. To get you started here are a couple of questions to ask yourself. How do I feel about making lots of money? Are there lots of opportunities out there to create wealth? Ask as many questions as you can think of. Don't judge the answers, write them down and head to step 2.

  • 2. Change limiting beliefs. The best way I know to change a limiting belief is to find a personal development CD that has content congruent with the new belief you want to create. Listen to this daily, and in about 31 days the belief should be ingrained. For example: If you believe it is too hard to make lots of money because of your current circumstances, get some autobiography Cd's of famous or wealthy people. Find out how they did it. You would be surprised how many of these people came from humble beginnings. Oprah lived in poverty before she made it and Bill Gates was a broke college drop out before he came through.

  • 3. Find a mentor. I always come back to this one. There is nothing more powerful than knowing someone who is where you want to be. It is hard for me to believe that all rich people are greedy when one on my mentors is giving away tens of thousands of dollars to charity every year.

These are just 3 simple tips to help you develop a millionaire mindset. With a better mindset you will be able to manage money better and prepare yourself to accept wealth. Take the time and analyze your beliefs, find out which ones are holding you back and begin to change them. Remember, you must develop a millionaire mindset BEFORE you see the money.
