Yes, it is the age of computer and every little child is a tech savvy! The wonder of computer has turned into just another day to day apparatus of life. Anyway, the threat to the outdoor activities or games of the children was increasing and computers, emails, chat and now social networking has taken over on the problem. The experts sensed the trend of usage among the online users. And they started developing on the same a long before. The online presence of the users and access to the data has already increased remarkably. And to utilize on this presence, there are communities and social sites. Plethora of information being uploaded by the users can not go without being used and utilized upon.

What is very essential is that to be cautious while leaving your details and information on the internet. You cannot imagine where and why you have been tracked. Social networking sites make you tempted to post your details, photos and videos on the site. They also store your usage patterns and track your liking and disliking. MSN Network, Facebook, Orkut – all these sites are candidly recording your each activity and moreover they provide the options to post your live status. It may not seem that serious initially but what happens behind the curtains is phenomenal. It also creates addiction among the users and also people find easy access to the friends and family members. But the dark side is that they seem to be disconnecting with the real world. There are two worlds now, online and offline worlds. There is no real world!

Technically, social networking is more hazardous than it appears. The privacy policies of these sites which we never get to read and never try to know what resides in it, explains such dangerous clauses. They sometimes hold the ownership of your contents and pictures that even after deletion they keep it. And of course, you can never know how they will be used or sold to. The privacy is getting invaded and we think we are becoming more personal by keeping things to our computer only. Many people spend 6-8 hours on such sites and they keep 5-6 social networking profiles.

The effects of this innovation to the social life are also not so pleasurable. It creates jealousy between the couples, creates doubts and relations do suffer. Also the users spending more time with these online friends tend get away with real life friends, real life games and also get deteriorated, family relations get affected and the person gets lonelier. It will be a bit early to say that but the effect of these social sites on social integrity will be significant in very less time.

The parents should involve with their children and organize the social programs like get together, student’s meet, camps etc. Schools and colleges are also very important institutions to support these real world activities. What we all need to do is, just be aware and alert to what we are doing. It is great fun to see our pictures and share those with friends on internet, but is equally hazardous as well. Use your own senses and discretion!
