As a creative way of preserving memories most important to you, scrapbooking is the perfect hobby. Scrapbooking allows you to be imaginative and inventive while making a treasured family heirloom.
Scrapbooking is a way of getting your keepsakes in the right place. Perhaps you have a closet full of old photographs in shoeboxes that have been left ignored. Don’t be afraid to really dig in and see what you have to work with!
Categorizing can help you when keep things in order. Different themes for scrapbooks can be made using these categories There are many possible themes: trips, school, games and athletics, special dances, or other reminiscences you want to keep. Select one idea to base your first scrapbook on and don't stray from it. This aids in keeping your scrapbook meaningful and cohesive.
Select a main idea for your scrapbook and then choose your highest quality photos for each topic you want to cover. Your "best" photos are those which capture the mood you are looking for and these are not always the ones which are posed or those which are the most aesthetically attractive. When choosing your pictures, don't discount a photo that is off-center or has a portion you don't want to focus on; all of this can be fixed with a few snips of the scissors. These will be the photographs you use to fill your pages.
Along with your photos, you may want to find other mementos that are related to your category. Anything that is meaningful can be added to your scrapbook pages such as ticket stubs, boarding passes, playbills or decorative pressed flowers.
Arranging the layout of your page is the next step. Although this is by far the most difficult part of scrapbooking, it is also the most rewarding. You can use your creativity to the max! Make sure that your page layout is creative. Each portion of your scrapbook is part of a greater whole, and should relate well to the rest. You can construct the background for your pages using scraps that you can make a collage from, pieces of felt or fabric, or any other alternative material. You can really use anything that will give interest to your page.
Place the photos on top of these interesting backgrounds to create something unique. Before you stick anything to a page, move the pictures, papers and borders around until you find what looks best to you. Scrapbooking is fun and you can design your pages accordingly to what your desire is for that page. This is the part of the process that is the most time-consuming, but it is also not the one that you want to rush. In the end, it is the way the scrapbook looks that will make it stand out the most.
You probably will have to do a bit of research to get some ideas for layouts. Inspiration can be found in pre-made layout guides, but in the end you should choose a layout that you like.

Add your final touches. This could be text explaining your photographs, gems, glitter, buttons, or anything else that will add even more interest to your page.
When creating a scrapbook remember that it is a physical memory, the process of making the book is that worthwhile part. If one chooses to put affection and care into their scrapbook, there is no doubt they will be ultimately pleased with their work. Enjoy creating your scrapbook!
