Quandary of Being a Woman and Having Hormones and Headaches

It is not common knowledge that more women are afflicted with headaches than men.

Science judges that women may have more terrible headaches than men, as well. Logically, there are a number of reasons that come into play when considering an individual's chances of acquiring headaches, and the occurrence of such problems. Becoming old, genetics, and family history can all play a role, but for women, there are many other aspects to be contemplated on. Hormone levels and birth control medications (which tinker with present levels or bring in man-made hormones to the body) are both likely issues in the headache equation. As declared, there are several factors that can play a part in someone's likelihood of getting headaches. For example, growing old looks to be a big factor.

The older one gets, theoretically, the more inclined one is to be subjected to headaches. People with a family history of being susceptible to the disorder are also at heightened risk, though whether or not there is a tangible inherited connection is still tentative. However, women have come to take notice of that fluctuation in hormones can usually be accompanied by headaches.

This can include things like specific times of menstruation, pregnancy, and any other times or environment that alter a woman's common hormone levels. This includes the use (or overuse) of birth control medication and patches, which introduce man-made hormones. The simple reason for this would be progesterone and estrogen, on occasion known as the central hormones of the female physiology.

The two of them may have an effect on other compounds in the body, along with a variety of chemical receptors. Among the many potential physiological compounds that can be disturbed by the two discussed above are the ones that control and synchronize
headaches in the brain. This frequently takes place due to some form of “correspondence” with other chemicals in the brain. For example, excessive levels of estrogen and inadequate levels of serotonin have been known to cause headaches in some patients, with the intensity moving from the mild to the severe. As can be forecasted, there are instances when the synthetic hormones of birth control medications can also have like end results.

Just because hormone level are naturally occurring doesn't mean that a woman can't do anything about it. Modern medicine has approaches of helping treat – or prevent, as the case may be – the headaches. Most accessible pain relievers are magnificent ways of battling headaches that come at some point in the beginning of menstruation, which is typically associated with an unexpected nose-dive in estrogen levels. Good diet and exercise, which are really judged to be good for pretty much anything, can also help decrease the intensity of hormone-related headaches when they come. Proper and adequate sleep can also be critical in this.

What about those who utilize birth control drugs? A different approach is employed to treat women who use pills as opposed to those who don't.

Taking a regimen that has more or less placebo effect can be effective in helping combat the likely upsurge in hormonal headaches. There are also medicines and patches that do not use estrogen or progesterone, and thus there is no bigger risk of headaches.
