Reclaiming Your Independence With The Help of Wheelchairs

A while back, a friend of mine was dealing with some difficulties. Her health was getting worse and so was her general feeling of well-being. Actually if I were to loose the ability to do basic things in life, stuff like getting to the post office, or even going to get the mail, I think I'd be a little down too.

If you find yourself in a similar situation, whether it's caused by health problems, age, or weight, you should know how she handled it. She's back to the way she was.

It didn't happen right away though. She had to get used to the idea of needing to get a wheelchair first. She told me once that she felt like she was succumbing to her illness by caving in and getting a wheelchair. I told her that it wasn't like giving up! And wheelchairs had come a long way in the last 10 years. We went online together to look at the newest developments in wheelchairs, and she started to get really excited about owning one.

We found more than what we were looking for right away, from jazzy wheelchairs to lightweight wheelchairs, to mobility power chairs, there wasn't much we didn't find. We were astonished at how handsome they actually looked, and very easy to adjust to suit. I could sense her excitement as she found out all of the optional equipment you could get. After we researched the various models available and finally settled on a Jazzy electric wheel chair, she was really happy with her choice. After deciding on the various accessories like a basket, and cupholder, she picked out a color.

When the wheelchair came to her door, it took a little adjusting. After some trial and error, she finally became comfortable with how to use it. It didn't take long though for her to master her Jazzy electric wheelchair, and now it's just natural to her.

The best part was that she regained her happiness and her sense of dignity again. She was able to do things for herself now instead of having to rely on others.
