Recovering From Breast Augmentation Surgery Is Not Easy!

Breast augmentation takes the top spot for breast enhancement procedures performed worldwide. Women want large breasts! That's a fact that cannot be ignored. Qualified surgeons the world over are trying to keep up with the ever increasing demand for these procedures.

While larger, firmer breasts can certainly improve a woman's level of life enjoyment, she should carefully consider the recovery time required from the actual procedure. Recovery is not easy! The first few days after surgery are no doubt the most uncomfortable for a woman. In many situations, a woman should not shower for several days after surgery. Nor will she be able to lift her arms above shoulder level (this rule needs to be followed for several weeks!).

Your implant size will also affect your body's recovery time - the larger the implants, the longer it will take your body to fully recover. Also, if your basic body structure was not built to handle enormous implants (and you opt for enormous implants), then your body will need a longer period of time to fully recover.

Every surgeon will prescribe at least two medications: a pain killer and an antibiotic. Which is more important? The antibiotic of course! While the pain killer will certainly alleviate your discomfort and pain, the antibiotic will work towards thwarting the onset of an infection which can be extremely dangerous after any form of surgery.

Two ingredients that are imperative to your surgery recovery are plenty of water and plenty of rest. You can't have enough of either!

Post-surgery breasts are not a pretty sight. They are typically swollen, bruised, and generally unappealing. You should expect this - it's normal! Only time will reduce the swelling and bruising.

Another tool to help your recovery is a compression bra. It will hold your breasts snug against your body and prevent unnecessary movement. The more restrictive the bra, the better the healing process. When can you start wearing normal bras? When your surgeon says you can!

Breast augmentation surgery is a serious matter that should be taken carefully into consideration. Outside of the healing process, you will need to plan for family and friends to chip in and help you with day to day activities and chores. Your surgery recovery will immobilize you for some time! Plan for it - it is unavoidable.
