Satellite TV Gives You Total Control

If you have kids in the house and you want to control what programs they are watching on television, you may want to consider switching from your cable TV service to satellite instead.

There are a lot of features that satellite services offer these days that they did not used to and services that most cable TV providers have not been able to offer. A large number of parents these days like to have control over what their children watch on TV, especially since the number of graphic programs has risen significantly over the past 20 years.

Not even prime time TV can be trusted to have clean content for families to watch anymore, but satellite TV services often have the answer.

With most satellite TV services, you can block certain channels from certain TVs in the household by requiring a passcode to access them. If a person does not know the passcode, the channel cannot be watched on that particular television.

In most cases, if your children have access to other televisions in the house, it is best to passcode the same channels on all of them just to be safe.

In addition to being able to block complete channels from your child's TV, you can also block certain types of programming by blocking them either by their content or by their rating. This means that if the child tries to watch something you have restricted, the passcode is required to override it.

You are also able in some cases to set what times of day and night a TV is allowed to be watched. So, if you do not want your kids coming straight home from school and turning on the TV instead of doing their homework, you can set the receiver to not receive a satellite signal until you want it to.

Programs can also usually be autotuned, which means if there is a show that you and your whole family want to watch (or perhaps just you), you can program the satellite receiver to automatically tune to it when it is scheduled to come on. This is a great convenience if you are forgetful and do not want to miss a show you were really looking forward to watching.

One of the final perks about satellite TV service is that some of them offer libraries of movies and television shows that you can call up and watch whenever you feel like it instead of having to wait for a show to come on.
