Manchester is renowned around the world for its numerous and varied characteristics, from restaurants in Manchester to its modern music culture and its range of engaging museums and galleries. The city is also famous for its sporting events, from football and horse racing to rugger and water polo. The city has a population of more than 2200000 individuals and is one of the biggest cities in the United Kingdom. In fact, it is the fourteenth most occupied area throughout Europe. This makes Manchester one of the most popular tourist spots and also a great place to be.

Situated approximately 160 miles from London and situated by the Pennine Hills, this picturesque city has something for everyone. Its many industries provide for a fantastic range of shopping areas. It has a great nighlife as well.

If your into sports, head over to the Alpine Village to spoil your adventurous side in some snow laden activities. You can venture down the slopes for some skiing or snowboarding , and those who wish to feel some tobogganing kicks can hit the Luge: a sixty metre long ice slide. If you wear yourself out, you can recharge the batteries with an après-ski aperitif at one of the numerous bars, restaurants and cafes.

If your into horseracing should go to to Haydock Park - a racing track located close to Manchester. With a calendar of racing events throughout the summer, you can enjoy these these games any time you visit the city. The venue also hosts a series of Ladies' Nights and Music Nights, the latter comprising live music with racing. The Ladies nights, alternatively, combine racing with refined fashion.

Spread around the city, there are a total of five markets to be discovered. Providing a great choice of food and beverages, in addition to numerous arts and crafts, they are the great way to get the shopping done whilst simultaneously having some fun.

Shoppers can locate everything from unique and quaint dress shops where they can purchase vintage clothing, to the huge Trafford Centre, a huge shopping mall with everything from restaurants to movie galleries as well as boutiques and well known stores.

You will find all well known brands like Apple who have a pc shop in Manchester and many department stores, like Selfridges, are located in the city, where visitors can search out desirable items with the assurance of quality they have come to expect from these establishments. The Arndale is another of the numerous shopping centres located in Manchester and is the biggest shopping mall in an inner city in the United Kingdom.

The city has much to offer tourists and occupants alike besides shopping and clubs. Manchester includes other cultural attractions including two symphony orchestras, an opera house, The Manchester Evening News Arena which is a great pop music venue, and several world class music schools. There are two major universities that attract students to Manchester; most notably the University of Manchester.

Manchester has such a great range of entertainment, you will find a great deal to enjoy and invigorate you in Manchester, and one trip will definately not be enough to satisfy your hunger for this wonderful city.
