Some Lottery Secrets You Must Know to Win

By: Professor Dolph Click author's name for more of his/her articles

Everyone has secrets. Professional gamblers have tightly guarded secrets that give them that winning edge. Even your lotto has hidden secrets. If you are searching for an advantage, want to increase your odds of winning the lotto jackpot or just want to save some money, then knowing these lotto secrets is very important. Want to learn what lotto secrets I'm talking about? Read on.
In a summary fashion, I've discussed this topic before in some of my other articles. But, this time I'm going to get very specific and use examples from an actual lotto to show what is possible. Our example lottery is the New York Lotto.
Longshots are the little secrets I'm talking about. Smart people value their money and would normally avoid betting on a Longshot. But, the term Longshot has a different meaning in your lottery. Any lotto number that hasn't hit in the last 10 drawings is considered a Longshot. This definition traces its roots back to the early days of the lottery when the lotto numbers that hit in the last 10 drawings were called Hot, due to their recent activity. Consequently, any lotto numbers not in that list were considered to be Cold or Longshots. The Longshot definition has survived to this day.
Unlike other games of chance, you would be making a costly mistake if you avoided playing Longshots in your lottery. If you are, or plan to be, a serious lottery player, then this is a dirty little secret you need to know. Why is that? Why are Longshot numbers so vital to your success? Here's what you need to know.
Let's get very specific and examine actual lotto numbers from the New York Lotto. Let's analyze 242 drawings from the NY659 lottery starting on 5/9/07 and show you how bad things can get when Longshots are omitted and just how good things can get if you know the New York Lotto's dirty little secret.
On the average, over a 242 drawing period, 2.03 of the winning lotto numbers were Longshots! That is 33.8% of the winning lotto numbers! Let's pause for a minute, so that you can be sure to grasp the significance of this revelation. Out of every 6 winning numbers drawn, on the average 2 of them were Longshots! WOW! Therefore, your terrible luck playing the lottery over the last 2 1/2 years is clearly understandable. It wasn't bad luck after all, it was because you didn't know this secret.
For all lotto players, this information is like a lighthouse on a foggy night. It's like a spare parachute for a sky diver. It's like knowing that Dudley Do-Right will arrive just in time to save Nell from the dastardly Snidely Whiplash. Now, this knowledge may not save your life but it will save you money! Here's what I mean.
Let's look at Longshots from a different angle. It required at least one Longshot to win the lottery jackpot 93% of the time for the NY659 lottery. That's 93 drawings out of every 100. The bottom line is, over the last year, if you didn't play Longshots, you never had a chance of winning the lottery jackpot in 93 of those drawings. You would have been wasting your dollars on wagers that never had a chance of winning the lottery jackpot.
The more we examine this phenomenon, the more amazing it becomes. Keep in mind, this isn't some theory, these are the results of actual lottery drawings. This table shows how many drawings contained Longshots.
3 drawings had 5 Longshots
21 drawings had 4 Longshots
56 drawings had 3 Longshots
82 drawings had 2 Longshots
62 drawings had 1 Longshots
18 drawings had 0 Longshots
This table speaks volumes. Notice that in 67% of the drawings it took 2 or more Longshots to win the lottery jackpot. It's easy to see that if you didn't know New York Lotto's dirty little secret, you were beating a dead horse.
