Sydney is an extraordinary city, not only because it has some of the most beautiful beaches to be found anywhere in the world, but also for the friendly, and it has to be said, quirky locals. The two main attractions that draw the crowds to Sydney are the amazing Opera House, and Sydney Harbour which divides the city up into northern and southern sectors. There are heaps of different kinds of clubs in Sydney and it is the best city in Australia to go clubbing. Bars and clubs are open until the early hours and you will find the atmosphere sociable and welcoming. The Mardi Gras is a huge yearly gay and lesbian event that features arts, serious partying and the legendary night-time parade through the heart of the city. It all happens around Oxford Street with the harbour party and Mardi Gras party beside the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. The summer is the best time to be in Sydney and along with the festival you can relax at the beach, and familiarize yourself with this multi-ethnic, liberal location, its fantastic cuisine and architecture.
