Yes, I'm guilty. You most likely are too. That adorable, little furry friend is practically smiling at you from underneath the kitchen table. With perked-up ears and the tail is wagging. We know what our dog is after. Just a teeny delicacy from lunch would be delicious, right? Really, is it THAT bad of a thing? It's just a little snack.

Your dog isn't going to want to hear this. Your dog's diet really shouldn't contain leftovers. People food is simply that...for people. A dog's nutritional needs just aren't the same as we two-legged creatures. Yes, we munch on some of the same things, but feeding your pet from the table is one of the largest mistakes for your pet. A dog's diet doesn't require all the added num-nums we add to our meals.

People already have with too much fat. Dog's can suffer with this too. If your dog's diet mainly consists of leftovers from the dinner table, chances are good that your dog will have trouble keeping a healthy weight. Even a few extra pounds overweight can in reality make a difference in the quality and length of your dog's life. Restrain the pleading and be firm in your resolve.
