The Benefits of Jogging

Running. It’s the exercise goal that many people want to be able to do, and for a lot of good reasons. It’s famous for its dramatic benefits to cardiovascular health and weight loss, but it doesn’t stop there. Running causes your body to produce a powerful anti-aging element known as the Human Growth Hormone. This is a substance that celebrities pay a lot of money for and take every day to help keep themselves looking young. It will also improve your bone health, making your bones stronger and able to handle more stress, helping to prevent bone-related diseases later in life.

So how does one start up a running routine? As famous as running is for its incredible health benefits and boosting of stamina and athletic performance, it also has an extraordinarily high rate of people dropping out. Running takes such a large amount of effort, that the majority of people whom start it up end up quitting. They see it as far too demanding and difficult, oftentimes ending up feeling so poor and tired after a good run that they just don’t view it as worth it. The real problem isn’t the actual running though; it’s just that these people are starting out the wrong way. – Just springing up a running routine on your body is not the way to start.

Actually, if a person who isn’t used to running gets off their sofa and goes for a run, they won’t really see many of the health benefits, especially weight loss. This is important, as studies have shown that as much as 60% of people who decide to run do so because they want to lose weight. You see, when someone just goes outside and starts jogging when they aren’t used to it, their body doesn’t react by burning fat. Since the body isn’t accustomed to so much effort being exerted at one time, it burns sugars and other energy sources that are much easier and quicker to access. This results in a person giving out of energy after a very short amount of time. When they do finally run out of energy, they notice that they only have gone a short ways, and the task of running seems insurmountable. It actually isn’t – they’ve just gone about it the wrong way.

The best way to start off running is by not running at all. – What do I mean by this? Start off by taking good, long walks. Doing so will help your body by not having it turn to high-output, short term energy resources, allowing it to instead access things like fat or glucose. But even more important than this, you are helping your body to build the stamina it needs. After taking long walks for a little while, pick up the pace. Your goal to is to get to power walking, where you’re able to walk quickly for a very long period of time. Of course, once you have gotten to this point, after a while try picking it up once more, and start introducing jogging into your routine. – Walk for a minute or so, then jog for thirty seconds, and so on. Just make sure that you don’t push yourself too hard, and that you ease yourself into this routine.

The next thing to keep in mind when you want to get up and get active is to do so immediately. Don’t wait – putting it off will make it more difficult, and you want walking and running to become a habit. If it isn’t, it will take that much more willpower to stick with it. The beauty of it is that you’ll be starting small, so go ahead and take a walk around the block, or go to a walking track. Jogging takes self-discipline, and you have to commit yourself to it now.

I strongly believe that everyone should take up at least a good power walking routine. Walking, running, and all forms of exercise are wonderful for your body, and are the perfect way to get in the physical activities that our bodies may otherwise be missing. Exercise strengthens our bones and hearts and is key for making sure you always look and feel your best. And not only will it give you more energy, but running is among one of the very best exercises for burning all those unwanted calories.
