Homeowners are revealing more about their lifestyles, values, families and preferences than ever before, and it’s all thanks to the local showrooms. So what are these messages appearing in peoples bathrooms, and what do bathroom showrooms in Manchester have to do with them? The truth is that your bathroom says a great deal more about you, your family, your preferences, habits and values - even your lifestyle - than you might ever have thought possible. We’re all comfortably familiar with the idea of presenting ourselves through our homes. Are we into bright lighting that will blast the light of reality into every pore of our skin as we contemplate our lines, wrinkles and spots in the mirror, or do we instead prefer to relax and indulge ourselves in a warm, soft and kinder glow?

All of these decisions, and many more, contribute to the overall impression of who we are, and our values and preferences - even our hang-ups, worries and private concerns. This is the bathroom of someone who knows how to enjoy the finer things in life, someone who appreciates comfort, and the chance to be self-indulgent, to relax and find an oasis of peace and tranquillity to escape from the rigours of daily life.

This of course contrasts with the bathroom with a funky toilet seat, a cupboard full of rubber ducks and boats, steps or stools for reaching basins and baths, clean, crisp lighting for seeing properly, and easy-clean washable surfaces for keeping the room clean, healthy and hygienic. This is almost certainly telling us that this is a family bathroom - one which has a very practical purpose, and which needs to fulfil a demanding role.

Have a look at your own bathroom, and ask yourself what messages it is conveying, and what it really says about you, your lifestyle and your values.
