One of the most amazing frontiers of outdoor advertising is the emergence of the “Digital billboard”. More advertising agencies/companies are adopting digital technology in the advertising business. It is preferred because of its effectiveness, advertising impact and affordable pricing.

Its huge capabilities as a credible source of advertising can be seen in the beautiful, colorful designs and their rapid emergence in hot markets, proving to be a great success and setting the quality standard for outdoor advertising. This new source of advertising involves the use of signs in several specific places that will draw attention from potential customers to these displays either along the roadside, walkways, subways, or shopping malls, etc. Their sole aim is to inform and promote a wide variety of products and services.

Digital billboards are being widely accepted as a new advertising medium because of its enormous advantages such as: dynamic creative elements and interactivity which can be seen in the bright, readable and colorful displays. Another is the guaranteed delivery and scheduled message display changes seen in the way advertiser’s images update in every six or eight seconds on the screen. More so, the rapid ability to update content which are informative and entertaining, and the ability to deliver specific messages to attract audiences in unique locations, are among the other benefits to effectively get customers to pay attention to the messages.

The advent of this advertising technique can be dated back decades. Even before automobiles existed, primitive models of the digital billboard have been used as a means of informing people. Mostly notifying travelers of the existence of some products or services. The wave of the twentieth century and the increased use of automobiles, caused companies to employ this special technique of advertising to inform the public of a broad range of goods and services.

This great method of advertising has brought prospective consumers to their desired products and services. Various cities and metropolises now use sophisticated billboard advertising to attract not only travelers but every potential customer in their locality thereby producing a completely new brand of advertising. Since the needs of customers are always growing, it requires newer and innovative advertisement to catch and induce them to buy the products and services.

In outdoor advertising, the electronic billboard has transformed into a high-tech outdoor display medium, which can boast of large, high resolution and brightly-colored billboard displays. This is essential to showing commercials to attract the interest of potential buyers. These animated advertisements are able to show a set number of messages and when changes are necessary, they can be easily made by the click of the mouse on the computer. One can easily say that it holds great prospects for the future of media advertising. Outdoor publicizing is gaining quick popularity and adoption. In addition to the fact that they are effective in promoting goods and services, they can be run 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Their effectiveness depends on visibility with regards to positioning, traffic and population.

The cost-effectiveness of the digital billboard publicity can be seen as an excellent means of expressing an organization/company’s business, sales content and the products/services they offer.
