The Upsy Daisy Bed - Is It A Good Toy?

By: Anna L Shannen Click author's name for more of his/her articles

Are thinking of buying the Upsy Daisy Bed for your little one this Christmas? This little doll and her friends have certainly become a popular favourite amongst 0-5 years olds. Daisy is one of the main characters in the In The Night Garden show along with her friends, Iggle Piggle, Makka Pakka and the Tombliboos.

The show centers around life In The Night Garden, a special magical place where everyone are friends. The show is very easy for small children to become captivated by as it is very bright and colourful. The characters don't talk but a story is narrated telling the children what the characters are getting up to. The show is a huge success and rightly so. The creators of the very successful Teletubbies, Andrew Davenport and Anne Wood and also the creators of In The Night Garden.

As is the case these days there is a huge range of toys available to purchase that show the characters of the show. Upsy Daisy and Iggle Piggle are two of the main characters in the show. As far as the toy range goes these are the most popular and have the largest selection.

A very popular choice last Christmas and I am sure it will be this year is the Upsy Daisy Bed. In the show Upsy Daisy spends a lot of time chasing her bed as it can give her quite a bit of trouble when she is trying to go to sleep. As in the show, the toy bed still gives Daisy plenty of trouble. The bed has a button which when it is pressed the bed rolls away from Daisy meaning she has to chase it in order to get to sleep. Daisy can be gently rocked too sleep, once she has caught the bed, by pressing the button twice. Whilst rocking her to sleep the bed plays the theme tune from In The Night Garden.

The Upsy Daisy Bed comes with a soft Upsy Daisy that closes her eyes when she lies down and a blue soft blanket the same as the one in the show. I have to say my little girl really loves her Daisy doll and she takes her everywhere and I mean everywhere, although personally I do find her eyes to be a little strange. But again this does not bother my daughter in the slightest and I am sure it does not bother other children.

Although quite heavy this does not seem to bother my little girl who usually pushes the bed along on its wheels and call for Mummy if it really needs carrying anywhere. After all that is what Mum's are for - yes?

Your little girl or boy, Upsy Daisy does appeal to a lot of boys, will love this toy. This is a very sturdy toy. My daughter has had loads of use out of hers, she has used it as a step, pushed Daisy down the stairs and around the garden and the bed is still intact. It is very similar to the one on the show so your little one will recognise it instantly and it really is a very good buy.

Your little one will get a lot of pleasure and have endless fun playing with the Upsy Daisy Bed. However, you may be driven mad by the theme music from In the Night Garden and you might even consider removing the batteries after a few days. You have been warned!!
