Acne, if not taken care properly can lead to scarring. Usually, any acne leaves a scar when it heals, but the severity of the scar varies in degrees. Severe acne like cystic acne will leave behind a deep rooted scar which will span across many layers of skin. Sometimes, mild acne can also leave severe scars, if proper treatment methods are not followed and proper hygiene is not maintained.

There is a lot that can be done to prevent or reduce the scars at a much earlier stage. Number 1 reason for most of the scars is improper handling of skin at the stage of the acne breakouts. Picking the skin, squeezing the pimple bud will only lead to increasing the severity of acne and the scar.
There are a few scar removal treatments that could be employed to remove the acne scars. A good treatment that is applicable to one’s skin needs and condition should be chosen.

Acne Scar Removal Treatments:

1)Chemical Peel Treatment:

Chemical peel treatment involves the application of certain chemicals to the top skin layers. After sometime, the chemical can be washed off the skin. It gets rid of the scarred skin layers along with the chemicals. A lot of chemical peels are available and it needs to be chosen wisely depending on the nature of the scarring present in your skin. Peels of different concentrations are available and can be chosen depending upon the nature of the scars that need to be treated.

2)Microdermabrasion:

In this method, by spraying abrasive crystals on the surface of the skin, the scarred layers of tissue could be removed by abrasion. It requires no hospitalization and is also referred to as a lunch time peel as it has zero recovery time. Home microdermabrasion kits are also available, so that it can be used at the comfort of your own home.

3)Laser Resurfacing:

It is used to treat very deep scars. This method is known to work for some people, but the other reported more harm than good.
