Valuable Tips For Becoming A US Citizen

If you're reading this article, you're more than likely contemplating becoming a US citizen. I can honestly tell you that the pride you will feel once you've accomplished this is something that you won't get from anything else. Having said this, getting your citizenship is not as easy as you'd think. There are quite a few requirements you must satisfy. This article isn't going to go over the requirements but is going to give you some tips to make becoming a US citizen a lot easier.

First thing's first. You're going to need to apply for form N-400. The place where you apply is going to vary depending on where you live. So ensure you look up where you live at the government web site and apply to the correct office. If you don't, your application will be denied. As for filling out the form, it is strongly recommended that you don't fill it out directly on your web browser but download it to your computer, print it out, fill it out and mail it in. Doing things over the Internet can lead to problems that you don't have with everyday US postal mail. So don't use the Internet option. Do this the old fashioned pre Internet way.

As for the interview process, which is the most important part, be yourself. Don't try to impress the person interviewing you with a ton of regurgitated facts. Tell them why you want to be a citizen and speak from your heart. This will go over a lot better than a recitation of US history.

Be confident in your interview. It's normal to be scared but be confident. You've prepared long and hard for this and most importantly, you know that you're applying for citizenship for the right reasons.

What ever you do don't lie. If they suspect you are lying, they will find out. They will investigate you, your friends, your family and everybody you know. If they ask you a question, no matter what it is, or how inappropriate you think your answer will be, be honest. They will respect your honesty a lot more than a bold faced lie.
