Watching The Earh And Getting A Majestic Satellite View

By: Joe Svarie Click author's name for more of his/her articles

When you look at a a satellite view when looking at Google Earth or other apps or internet sites you will know just how amazing they look. I never forget seeing my own home as seen by a satellite in orbit. It was amazing. First you see our amazing planet earth, next just type in your zip or postal code and the planet turned to our country. Then it looked closer and further until we could view the roof of my house. you can even see the neighbours trampoline in the backyard, parks, landmarks, nature reserves and more. It was amazing stuff.
The great thing about watching satellite views is that you get to see real photographs from anywhere on earth, Death Valley, Mount Vesuvius, canyons formed when dinosaurs roamed the land, and anything else you can think of. You can then save and share that wonderful satellite image with your friends and add some more interesting information such as where you got married, or the busiest road in town.
Another thing you can do after you have found your sight is your able to tilt and revolve the satellite image giving a more 3D or birds eye view on buildings, mountains and landmarks on the terrain. Many people have said to me if the photos are in real time and if you run around outside your house will you see yourself? The answer is no, we would need a lot of satellites out in orbit if this could happen.
The only downside you may have is that your pc might not be powerful enough to run the software and show the 3D graphics. But if your computer is quick enough you have lots of options to research
Manmade Landmarks
Its easy to spend unlimited time on Google Earth whizzing in and all over the earths major man made objects. It has turned into a major popular time-killers for computer users now. Viewing the Great Wall of China from space, for example, can justify its size. Just the fact that it is visible from space and covers a good portion of the Earth.
Natural Landmarks
You can also enjoy browsing the web for satellite images of earths natural sights. There are plenty to see in the US alone. The rainbow-colored hot springs of Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Canyon, and the snow caps of California's Sierra Nevada are all marvellous views, especially when shot from low flying survey planes, which offer clearer images and different scenes.
Google Street View
But perhaps the most popular aspect of online digital mapping technology nowadays is the ability to zoom in to get a street view of almost every major city on Earth. I'm talking of Google Maps street view feature, of course, which lets you to go to virtually any city on the map and get a virtual visit around it. The pictures used in street view mode are taken from hundreds of van-mounted cameras across the earth that function each day to keep the streetview option as up to date as possible. While your searching, you will see some pretty interesting candid pictures. From a freeway car wreck to a guy who needed a toilet break.
You can get so much fun viewing the planet sights from Yahoo, Google and Bing even though Google Maps likely has the most extensive database of worldwide pictures and the fastest response time for your viewing satisfaction. So get searching the world today.
