Welcome to the World of Affiliate Marketing

I can honestly say one thing, which I will never be able to say again. This is my first article here.

What I want to tell you about has to do a little with how affiliate marketing works, and then what I consider to be one of the very best places to go and learn the business.

I would also like to note that others have prepared articles on the same company I will be speaking of, and which I enjoyed reading, but I genuinely believe I might have a slightly different point of view to present to you, as you will see in a minute.

Along with thousands of other affiliate marketers, from absolute novice to very experienced, I am a member of the Wealthy Affiliate University program. Now, I have little doubt that you have run across this excellent program previously, but allow me to offer you a slightly different and extremely up to date view.

A number of weeks ago, Kyle and Carson, the owners of Wealthy Affiliate, had decided that they needed to revamp things. So they undertook what has now become a complete overhaul of the entire site. I'm really not certain if they had this much in mind when they started, but in any event, big changes are upon us. All for the better I might add.

Once again, going back several weeks, Kyle & Carson hand selected a small number of people at the site, and requested that they participate in the beta testing for the new Wealthy Affiliate Platinum. I was one of these people, and we were all sworn to secrecy while the testing was underway. Since I am writing this just a few hours prior to the launch of the new WA Platinum, I don't believe it will be published in time to betray their trust. And to tell you the truth, they have been letting lots of hints drop over the past week or two anyway.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with affiliate marketing, the concept is simplicity itself.

You have a person with a product for sale – he/she would be the seller.

You have someone who wants that product – he/she would be the buyer.

But what happens when the buyer and seller cannot find each other? Aha, that is where the affiliate steps into the picture. The affiliate introduces the buyer to the seller. And when a purchase is made, the affiliate earns a commission.

Sounds easy enough, right? Well, yes it does, but in the real world there are lots of bumps in the road getting that buyer to find that seller. And not only is this where the affiliate comes in, but also the necessary training for that affiliate.

If you have been searching online for a way to learn how to earn some money online, then you have very likely been bombarded with a bewildering array of offers. Some may have been quite legitimate, but sadly, most are anything but. I think you are clever enough to tell one from the other.

One thing I will say right now, is that Wealthy Affiliate will not be making any silly promises that you will be rich overnight. No sir. Wealthy Affiliate exists for one reason, and that is to teach you how internet marketing, and affiliate marketing in particular really works.

As I mentioned before, the concept is very straight forward. But as the internet changes, and let's face it, nothing changes as fast as the web, new strategies are uncovered. New ways to learn are constantly evolving. And that is the way it must be if you are to become a successful affiliate marketer. You must be able to keep up with these changes and you will need somewhere that you can keep on top of all this.
