What Sells on eBay and How to Sell it Quickly

Pretty much anything can be sold on eBay, although there are prohibited items. It’s not as straightforward as listing something you believe someone will want to buy; it’s about listing it in such a way that it holds as much appeal as possible for a buyer. But what if your challenge is to find out what sells on eBay and how to sell it quickly? Items that can be bought quickly are very exciting to buyers who want to buy quickly. So take advantage of people’s impatience and need for convenience.

The dilemma for anyone wanting to sell an item quickly on eBay is to weigh up trying to achieve the best price for it versus getting rid of it as soon as possible. Assuming that time is more important than how much the item fetches, here are some tips you can use in order to give your item the best chance of selling quickly.

A low starting price will attract more buyers than a high one, but make sure you really would be prepared to let your item go at a low starting price should it only attract one bid.

Offer a Buy It Now option so that a buyer can buy and pay for the item immediately. You may also combine this with the or Best Offer option so that buyers can tell you what they’re prepared to pay for your item. These options have greater fees involved than auction-style listings.

Offer to post your item worldwide and drastically increase the number of potential buyers who might want your item.

Allow buyers to pay online through eBay’s preferred site Paypal. Delays are incurred through waiting for cheques and postal orders to arrive or clear.

Keep postage and packaging costs as low as possible. Allow for covering your listing fee, final value fee and a likely Paypal fee, but cut down on new packaging costs by reusing appropriate materials. This is also more environmentally friendly.

Upload photographs when your item first goes live. Some buyers will not take time to revisit a page that promises a photograph will be added soon.

Aim to have your listing end on a weekend. Many sellers have reported an increase in trade for items that end on a Saturday or Sunday. Friday and Saturday evenings can be quiet, so be careful about the time of day that your item is due to end at. You may find that it’s convenient to pay for a scheduled start time if you are unable to list your item at the most desirable time of day.

Consider a brief listing duration. Auction-style listings can last for a minimum of one day and a maximum of ten days. Don’t give buyers too little time to see your item, but don’t give them too long to think that may result in them talking themselves out of the idea.

As always, trying to sell an item is best if it is accompanied by good feedback and the promise of a professional service. There will always be buyers who will need items quickly and who will turn to your listings for the convenience as well as the service.
